Since many of you asked how I learn Power BI, here are some books I vouch for. I like to learn from books, because they provide a complete structure and they answer many questions I didn't even know I need to ask (not only as a beginner). I didn't read all of them form cover to cover yet but they gave me great value already nonetheless.
Amazon links to the books*:
📕 Data visualization
● Storytelling with Data amzn.to/3RDAh1J
It is my #1 recommendation. If you don't read anything else, just read this and you will be ahead of the majority of the Power BI developers in dataviz.
● The Big Book of Dashboards amzn.to/3PGU3XJ
It is another great book and ithas many use cases if you want to dive deeper.
📘DAX
● Supercharge Power BI amzn.to/3Pw179u
A great book for beginners, covers the most crucial DAX topics.
● The Definitive Guide to DAX amzn.to/3rAgGF7
The holy book of DAX, but more advanced.
📗Power Query & Data Modeling
● Master Your Data with Power Query amzn.to/3ZJWFZy
This book gets you started very quickly with Power Query and ETL.
● The Data Warehouse Toolkit amzn.to/3thz7Py
Data modelling is so important. Better data model = simple DAX and faster reports! Read the first 2 chapters to get the basics. Dive eeper into specific chapters later on.

Nicely demonstrated. Thanks for you time and effort! Edit: I recently saw a video on another channel where you add a hidden textbox to document the bookmark setup, to help you remember the configuration in the future.

Mais um vídeo excelente! Já usei algumas dessas técnicas em alguns dos meus projetos, mas a tela escura de fundo destacando o menu (4:10) é simples e impactante. Sempre aprendo algo de valor neste canal, parabéns.

@@yourownkpi Hello Zsolti, I don't have the habit of reading the "about" part on KZread and I saw a little about the purpose of the channel, I asked about your nationality as you have a European accent. Once again, congratulations on the excellent work, I'm already second to you on LinkedIn.

This is great! Well done and thank you! I have one question: when I use the last navigation option with the dropdown menus, it works perfectly and navigates me to the desired page. However, when I return to the original page, the selected menu item is still displayed. Did I miss something, or is there a way to reset it so it doesn't display?

This is a fault in the design indeed. The only thing I can think of is to use bookmark navigators instead of page navigators. But then you have so many bookmarks that it doesn't worth the hassle.

i mean! Even if we have a fancy looking hidden navigator, when we "close" it, it will return the charts that be showed on "X" button bookmark. No matter we choose which bookmark for that specific button, when we close nav bar, they will all back to the same chart. That's a point and purpose of creating hidden nav.

  • @yourownkpi

Not if the X button bookmark only afets the "Display" but not the "Data" of the Selected visuals (which are the navigation panel elements). Visuals remain unaffected by the navigation bookmarks.

Nice work. I’ve got a question on the Nav Special Country. Since it mimics dropdown menu, what happens to the dropdown menu when the menu item is clicked? For me, it navigated to related page.but the menu stayed there. When I navigated back to the previous page, my dropdown menu just hung around. Is there any way to collapse the menu once the menu item has been clicked? Thank you.

  • @yourownkpi

Yes thats an issue unfortunately. The only thing I can think of is to create bookmarks instead of using page navigatiors. But then it's too much effort to do this feature.

Should the "Data" option of the bookmarks been unchecked during the setup?

  • @yourownkpi

    @yourownkpi

    2 ай бұрын

In this case it doesn't make a difference, since no visuals with data are effected by the bookmarks, only the selected bookmark navigators. If you want to show/hide visuals or filters without affecting what data they show or what is selected in them, then you need to uncheck the Data
