You could also use shipping containers which can be mounted to the foundation and would be earthquake resistant and typhoon proof.

There are many way to build homes with concrete. 1.Prestressed Concrete homes.( Very strong and lasts hundreds of years longer than normal concretes) 2. Concrete Dome Homes( Needs Shotcrete Technology that is spraying concrete thru the pressure washer). 3. Concrete Micro Homes( Inspiration from Japan). 4. Homes built with Steels. Whichever way you decide, the companies should come up with an Idea where you can build small or large and cheap. Cheap doesn't mean the quality of homes have to be poor. You can build small yet build them strong and affordable for humble people and wage earners. And the designs will improve as you start building.

I have lived now 6-years Q.C. The quality of the buildings is horrible. A little bigger quake, so the whole city is flat. Now we have land near Tarlac. We make the house by European standards. I have 30 years experience in construction. A few workers who want to learn new methods. If necessary, I will teach them all the steps. Or I'll do it myself. Time is irrelevant. Only the finished result matters. Architects think they are wiser than God (Bone heads). Engineers are infallible (Yes, yes men ....) During the six years I have met two good architects and three engineers. No 1m x 1m footing, beam, column, HCB etc. Something better and more durable ...

Can this building technique or methodologies applied for low cost mass housing to address the housing backlog in the Philippines. If so then maybe the government through the OVP Mrs. Robredo can build partnership with the company or any that espouses this technology. How many level of flat type of house/apartment of at least 3 bedrooms, living room/dining room and a bathroom can this be applied? Why are we not using this in rebuilding those affected areas of super typhoon Yolanda?

How accurate is this “portal frame” and has this been tested, you need videos of how strong your waffle boxes are and if it’s actually legit because if it is, this would be very good as my childhood house was destroyed by the earthquake in the Philippines. And would be happy to invest in re building our house with the “waffle boxes”

I'm wondering if this type of home is practical. Waffle box houses seem light weight because they are being transported from the factory to the site. We always have typhoons in the Philippines so how can we be sure that it won't be tipped over by the strong winds? Also, is it alright to opt for smaller windows? I'm not confident with glass walls and windows, especially if typhoon winds are strong and the wind might bring foreign objects aimed straight at the glass windows that will eventually shatter. I've seen the website and I like the models. It also seems cheaper and easy to maintain and I would like to have MODULE 4 built with a roof deck someday. I just need to be sure that this will definitely withstand disasters like ours.

I see this aren't the typical American prefab houses. Being in the Philippines, they're naturally more enhanced because we tend to have more disasters in the country. I've already seen the website too.

i have exactly the same worries, Elaine.i dont think typhoons would blow 5 tons with a strong base.but when it comes to Windows...a stone with such nature power would become like a bullet..and plexi is solving the problem during earthquakes, althought it get very easily scratches, after a few years, u wouldn t see through with the sun on it.

That's an easy one. Don't live in an Earthquake prone area or at the coast. Yet what do people want to do, especially younger ones. Let's get a house or have one built at the beach or in the state of California, Oregon or Washington State because we are invincible and will never be hurt and if an Earthquake or Tsunami hits, everyone's house will be destroyed except ours because we are special.
