Wow, I love this method and that color is gorgeous. I love a nice apex. That is why I love doing my own nails, because I felt like when I had them done they never gave me the apex I wanted.

I made a WHOLE lasagna for my College son, spent 2.5 hrs laboring over it & after tasting it, my son called me to thank me for making him food! After the phone call I must admit I cried a bit, but I just am not over the bump in the road that he used to be 7 watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, loving explaining the reasons the turtles spent underground with the rat Splinter!!! Anything coffee makes me super happy! Nectar of the gods. I noticed that you're not wiping the brush to prevent contamination. Is this not a thing with gels? I also find that there is little clean up with gel. I want to be you when I grow up. I still have a lot to learn and my file/buff time is still so much longer than yours.

Can you tell me how big of an apex I need for nails that are 1/4 inch above the tip of my finger? Would that be a lot of dips? I don’t want it to be super thick. Your the best and have helped me so much on my dip powder journey!! ❤

Hello Marla, do you know if the gel method results in stronger nails or using dip liquids gives you stronger nails? I climb a lot and i want to protect my nails (the free edges and the front top surfaces).

I wish I had a great answer. It honestly depends on you and your nails. For some, gel adheres better. For others, it’s dip liquids.

Good morning Marla! I love this apex idea I’m going to do it because my nails are so thin. I do have a couple of questions if you could help me out: so every layer that you do do you cure for 60 seconds? Also, I have seen some people do a clear dip on the bottom. Obviously, I heard you say clear and gel don’t mix and I know this question is kind of not pertaining to this video but when you are dealing with the dip liquids, how do you feel about putting a clear dip on the bottom? Thank you sorry for such a long comment 😊

Hey love! Yes, I cure each layer for 60 sec. I don’t really see a purpose for clear under color UNLESS you’re planning on filing off the color and filling in the clear. If you’re just doing a soak off, you can skip the clear on the bottom 🫶🏻

@@MarlaKris thank you for that advice because I have been doing clear on the bottom and then three full dips and then clear on the top and then having to do so much filing because they are too thick. This is so helpful thank you one more question because you are the best do you prefer a gel method or dip method and why?

@@jessicamaurelli5238 aww you’re so welcome! I prefer dip liquids only bc removal (soak off) is way quicker and they seem stronger. They both have their benefits so it’s really just a matter of personal preference!

But can you hold the products that you uses close up to the camera so we can see exactly what your using. Also maybe a few times can you do both hands instead of one? Hi Marla! So I tried the dip powder with gel liquids and the very next day the tips of my nails are chipping. Do you have any suggestions on why this is happening? I really love the gel it’s easy and it’s so much shinier, but I never had this issue using the dip liquids the very next day, so I’m confused.

@@MarlaKris you are the best for wanting to help me. So for the prep I am pushing back cuticles getting rid of excess cuticle if needed. I am using 150 grit file on the top of my nails because I thought they needed to be rough for gel, then I am dehydrating. I’m doing basecoat, then pouring over dip. Curing for 60 seconds. Doing that again for a second layer, brushing off excess after the cures then a base coat curing wiping with alcohol filing with 150 grit again wiping with alcohol base coat cure top coat cure

@@jessicamaurelli5238 so it totally depends on your nails - you may need an additional layer BUT I would highly suggest a gel primer (I like the young nails protein bond) in between dehydrator and gel base. It’s air dry.. let it dry completely. That acts like double sided tape for maximum adhesion!

Unrelated! I noticed when you upload videos in HDR my phone doesnt know what to do with them and washes them out, but when you upload without HDR the videos look great, just thought you should know. I had a very confusing time with one of your videos on the model ones dip power (i just bought some) because when you said they were very black they looked gray on ny phone 😅.

​@@MarlaKrishello Marla, I did a little bit of research and it turns out there's nothing wrong with your videos, it's a problem with KZread. Linus Tech Tips has a video on why KZread's HDR is so bad.
