Don’t forget to dechlorinate the pond water or leave for a few days. The chlorine from tap water can kill tadpoles.

My frogs leave my pond at night and go hang out by my landscape lights. And catch the bugs attracted to the lights. They are quite smart.

I'm amazed you didn't put down sand or even a bit of old carpet under the liner! You risked it being torn from stones/sharp bits in the hole, especially having to stand in it to push it down. Luckily there looked to be no holes.

I also have a stream , it's fast flowing, so I can't put Minnows & Sticklebacks in it to attract the Kingfisher that we occasionally see. Does anyone know if Kingfishers will visit a pond of about the same size as the one in the video, if I stocked it with Minnows & Sticklebacks & sited it near the stream ?

I have a pond but have noticed away from the pond on a concrete path that a frog has taken up esidence in a shallow area of water inside a 'collapsable washing up bowl - these are sold for caravaners. It is now November and the frog is still there. It is getting very cold at night. It is alongside the house that is very sheltered with high walls so it may not get cold blasts of air but I am thinking of trying to give the pond a container or an overturned plant pot complete with soil and twigs etc somewhere to go when cold - would this work do you think or should I leave it to him to find somewhere. There is no soil nor grass where he is. Complete hard surfacing with tall (4 ft) pots on raised plant saucers. Thank you. I enjoy your films

If you're not putting things into it immediately, tap water is fine. :) You have never cycled a fish tank?

Will a frog pond encourage mosquitoes?

No. Fish will eat larvae and frogs can eat skeeters. Pond shouldn't be stagnant, anyway.

Maybe put a small aerator or air stone that bubbles the water but doesnt suck up the tadpoles, I used it in a fish pond and just a small one kept the mosquitoes away for a few months until I took my aerator out
