How to Build an Amazing Seaside Diorama - Realistic Scenery Vol.14

Ойын-сауық

If you’ve ever wanted to know exactly how to create your very own ultra-realistic model of an ocean then this is the tutorial for you!
I’ll guide you through ever step I took to not only build the lighthouse but also every tip, technique and method for making the amazing sea water and rock cliffs. The model is built in HO scale and would make a perfect addition to any model railroad.
Having a water feature on your model layout or even as a standalone diorama like this one is will draw the attention of anyone who gazes upon it!
Some of the details in this model were 3D printed on the Anycubic Photon 3D printer, specifically the chimney and if you’d like to download the 3D file I used to make the chimney detail you’ll find it on my website at:

I love your work so much! The amount of detail that you put into everything is unmatched and I can no longer watch any other diorama channels. I do have one suggestion though! To add even one more aspect of realism, any of your dioramas that include splashes, mists of water, and waves, I think it would look really neat if you brushed on a thin layer of clear resin to the lower parts of the rock formations to add the effect of wetness!

Not sure if this is something you would try, but for Christmas, it would be neat for a diorama for something to due with the Polar Express. Perhaps the frozen lake with the train on top. You could do cracking ice, and have tracks coming out from the ice to look like the frozen over tracks. Again, not sure if this is in your wheelhouse, but it's an excuse for a pretty neat icy/snowy scene with some interesting techniques to use.

Really beautiful, If I had anything worth suggesting, it would be to raise the darker grey from the bottom area of rocks a little higher and give it some irregularity, as the rocks right at surface of the water look a bit dry, which shouldn't be the case if they are wet from all the waves splashing. Also, rocks at or just below the surface of the water often have seaweed/moss, so it could be worthwhile to add a bit of that 'grass' on the rocks below the surface before adding the resin (would that even work?). Finally, I assume this is high tide, but if it were low tide there would be some staining of the rocks up to the waterline of high tide, with some various kinds of flora and fauna on the rocks below that level. Just a couple thoughts. Love your work.

Ahhh cool, I just finished school and I am making a bunch of military jets, trying to make them as detailed as I can. Also now going to make a mini jet-shade display/diorama inspired by your vids.

It's funny you say that. I am new to the channel and have watched only two videos. But each I find myself flashing back to the city in "Beetlejuice" and wondering if something of that "scale" has ever been a dream. And now I know.

  • @protonjones54

The water seems a little too fake on the finished product. I look back at the start of the video where the diorama has a proper background and the water just does not blend in with the rest of the sea. The color is off, and the wave behavior doesn't match. However that problem could be remedied with a different background. Otherwise the set looks awesome m8

Greetings from Indiana (USA) Just started watching your vids & I must say I love your work. I used to have a full bedroom turned into a OH scale model train as a kid. Me & my dad put it all to gather but nothing like you do! What you do is so cool and I am learning how to do what you are. Keep up the great vids.
