In this video, I clearly show you Exactly how to build a pit latrine one of the sanitation facilities in public Health Engineering
I've summarised an easy method on how to build a pit latrine and soakaway.
What is a pit latrine and how does a pit latrine work?
A pit latrine or a pit toilet is a sanitation facility that collects human waste or sewage in a hole or pit that is in the ground and this waste is later collected by a sewage truck to the sewage treatment plant and in this video, you will watch a pit latrine system explained.(full pit latrine Construction) from start to finish cost included.
I will first show you safe depth of the pit latrine and soak pit from the water table, safe excavation dimensions recommended by UNICEF for public schools and hospitals, WASH SANITATION and all you need to know about wash and sanitation facilities The video also includes dimensions of different pit latrines depending on the number of users. Different number users will have different pit latrine sizes. The video explains all that
You will also learn the pit latrine design, pit latrine plan or drawing, leach field installation( drain field installation for the outdoor bathroom) This kind of pit latrine is different from the septic tank or the septic tank system
Next you will learn how to do pit latrine waste treatment, pit latrine cleaning and ie pit latrine pumping
In the end You will know everything you need to know about pit latrine Construction, soakpit Construction, sanitation facilities in public Health Engineering in the public Health Engineering department
I hope you enjoy it

    Following all the Steps I explained in the video, with a terrazzo Finished Floor and with both the intermediate ring beam and the ground beam, A five (5) stance VIP Latrine with an outdoor bathroom or urinal will cost you around 7,000 usd$ including labour and materials, A three stance will cost you around 4,000 usd$ and a 2 stance will cost you around 2,000 usd$

    Thank you, how do you tell if clay bricks are well burnt? And have you done anything on building a house and having the water from the house directed to the pit latrine?

    Thanks for knowledge you are sharing sir. I am curious about the painting. Would it be durable and cost saving to aply oxide colouring of the same colour finish(paint) on plastering mix?

  • @ianconstruction

    @ianconstruction

    Жыл бұрын

    An oxide is used when skim coating a wall not this usual painting of the wall, or you can mix an oxide with a Cement paste when doing Flooring BUT when painting, what is recommended is to specifically use paint of your required colour and not oxides. Mix the base colour paint with different colour paints to come up your required or favourite colour but not oxides I hope that answers your question brother

    @@ianconstruction one more question. As you build the septic tank. I was wondering why you do not construct the dividing wall and join it into the external box as you build. I think it might give extra strength to the box. Just curious.

    I'm not getting your question very well but the way we build a septic tank is, we build a rectangular box as you said, with a single partition in the middle(we build them together), its walls must full brick thickness or header bond and must have pillars to provide enough support since its a retaining wall. I hope that answers your question?

    Personally i don't recommend the use of fired bricks for foundation wall due to their weak structural strength and porosity. Instead i'd prefer a mass concrete wall.

    Sure? bro, i think well burnt "clay" bricks CLAY -not red soil bricks, are better for anything underground, 1.Because Clay Bricks have a low water absorption compared to concrete blocks Due to the the high water absorption of concrete blocks, that's why we use bricks in the foundation or sub structure and then concrete blocks in the superstructure in buildings Well burnt clay bricks can withstand chemical corrosion far much better than Blocks because they have no Cement in them. It also becomes a mess once a single block gets a crack in the pattern(foundation) What it's holding above it is at stake. And also, most blocks on the market are substandard and once used in water logged areas or damp prone areas, they will eventually disintegrate into pieces when water passes through them. (Because they are not always cured properly, manufacturers some times use sand during manufacturing instead of stone dust) Solid Concrete Blocks can be used in the foundation if they can go up to 7.2 M.P.A complying to BS 5628 (To attain this, simply weigh if each block weighs around 30kg) And that's why I conclude that Clay bricks are better to be used in underground work then above the natural ground (above the dpc and dpm) concrete blocks can be used
