    FYI The coop is over 6 years old now and through the elements we permanently attached post holding the back up. We also added a 2x4 ‘A’ frame roof and a thick tarp on top, a run / ramp from the coop to the shed so they can fully hide, plus a few large hides inside the coop, occasionally putting a tarp on the back during colder months, also no need to clean this coop, just add lots of leaves in fall to keep them insulated throughout winter, or a couple inches of green or brown organics every week to cover poop, and this is fantastic compost for the garden in summer. Check out some of my newer videos for updates!

I am wanting to add on to a pen since I recently acquired some baby chicks. Thanks for some good idea on materials. Good job on the predator proof with the apron around the bottom. If you have a problem with snakes, I use and have seen others use the deer netting to keep them out of the pen. Thanks for videoing....Jesus bless.

    Interesting but you must live where there is no winter and no weasels. If you know about weasels they will dig long tunnels to get to their source of blood. You need a secure floor that can be easily cleaned. My coop is 12'x24' to house 32 ducks (27 ducks, 5 drakes). My chicken coop is 8'x10' to house 22 chickens (20 hens, 2 roosters). That's approx. 9 sq.ft. per duck and approx. 4 sq.ft. per chicken. My birds are incredibly healthy and very contented birds. Friendly and gentle plus very prolific egg layers. I sell fertile eggs and eggs for eating. I learned about having a very secure weather tight coops for birds by experience. All of my birds are completely free range and organic. I did learn how well weasels can dig. I had 24" hardware cloth laid flat around the outside of my duck coop. Weasels dug tunnel under the hardware cloth and killed 8-10 very valuable Ancona Ducks. The following Spring I installed a very secure floor. I never lost another bird to weasels. I have lost 2 ducks to hawks but then my birds live in a pasture.

    It’s a nice coop, but if you have many predators in your area you should of used Hardware cloth instead of the chicken wire. Unfortunately chicken wire will keep chickens in, but many predators can easily get thru the chicken wire! Which you’ll find out the hard way soon enough if any predators decide they want a chicken dinner and/or egg omelette? Hopefully you’ll add the hardware cloth before you find a murder scene in there? I have many predators in my area and built my coop run tractor over 4 years ago and nothing been able to get inside my coop run yet in those 4 years fortunately. A lot of why my chickens been safe is cause I put the hardware cloth all around the coop and run including the roof too. Admittedly it does cost more then chicken wire, but when you consider the cost of your animals and the horror of seeing your animals killed by predators. The hardware cloth isn’t that expensive in the long run! Best of luck to you!

    @cloudyandoracle

    @@markthompson7961 unless you live where it's like 20 or 30 below zero, duck do not need heat lamps. They have very thick down and their body temp stays over 103 degrees. Heat lamps are the number 1 cause of barn and coop fires and also keep in mind that if they get used to being heated and you have a power outtage they won't have time to adjust to the temp change and can easily die. Keep the coop winterized by stapling 3mil plastic over the wire, making sure to leave enough open for ventilation and they'll be just fine.

    Pedro Farinha spent about $200 and yes and no, we ended up putting a tarp over the top to keep the rain off them

    Unfortunately here in the UK, the fox 🦊 will dig in with this type of pen/coop, need some sort of base to stop predators.

    Abby Craven you might need to do something more on the floor because bunnies can dig their way out.

    problem with this is that you have to go inside to get the eggs. Put the doghouse on the outside and cut a hole in the fence so they can get in and out of it. Put one side of the roof on hinges so you can open it for eggs. Make sure to add some weight so it's too heavy for raccoons or dogs to push up.

    Im glad that they can run in the garden. Because the run have no environment and is kind of boring. So please continue letting them out or you should make a nice environment in there. Thanks

    If you is interested in coop plans the best results that I have had was by following the Coop Magic Tactic (i found it on google) definately the most useful info i've tried.

    Nice but I can guarantee if you get a 4ft level on them posts they wont be level you cant go using a small level like that to level such a long length 😔😂
