How to Build a Round License Plate Birdhouse
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Check out how I built this cool little round birdhouse using a couple of old license plates and some reclaimed plywood leftover from our house renovation. It's a really unique design that's fairly simple to build. Try it yourself!

Adorable!
- Wonder what the temp rose to in all that metal ???
You will cook the bird and eggs with that metal plate outdoor. The kids will get PTSD everytime they eat chicken.
If you predrill the holes before bending the plate it might be easier. Thank you for your video.
I do a lot with license plates too. You got a great deal!

+mascottie Yeah, after buying these, I looked on ebay to find some different states/colors and was surprised at some of the prices.
you'll need to drill holes on bottom, for drainage, as well as 4 holes in the back
Very Good Project... will this wonderful idea there do a little house that to my kids too ... otimo project ... congratulations!

Thanks. It's a fairly simple project and looks really cool hanging outside.
No ventilation. Bad news.
FYI, you can set your compass to the radius = 3.5"

+Steven Gallyer Yeah, I should have been more clear about why I did the square first. I was using it to create the crossed guide lines for the hole & perch layout as well as to center up the plates when installing them.
The metal is ok if the bird house is mounted in the shade.
Where do you find license plates ? Here in Maryland the DMV is strict on keeping license plates, I've been looking for some for years but no luck in the tri-state area .

I actually found them on Craigslist. A guy was selling an old milk crate full of them for $30. I ended up paying less than a $1 a piece for them which turned out to be an awesome deal. You can find them on Ebay as well.
Great design! Thanks Kevin!

+Brandon Kirkham Thanks! I have several of them I'll put on my channel here this Spring, but I thought I'd start with my favorite.

+MrDiyDork You got a great deal on the license plates! just looked them up on eBay... Wow!! Lol, guess I'll have to do some digging around the flea markets! Thanks again and keep up the good work!
My husband uses these plans from Woodglut and is very happy with them. However. I love yours!
A perch is where a Brooklyner sits when he's out of the city. This is the cutest thing I've ever shared on KZread, and you're all too young to appreciate it. Shame.

Settle down
I guess that you're prepared to dismantle these jobs at the end of each season to remove the old nests.
size of the hole decides what bird lives in them outside. your hole is too large for any bird that can live in such a small house. also ive heard the perch is not good for the family of birds inside. it just makes it easier for the predators. its also better if you dont put any clear coat paint on them. toxic to birdies. a few air holes in the house in the sides our back (sm drilled holes) are good too. your bird houses are cute.

+crosspecans I've had one of these hanging in my backyard for the last year, and all the birds that tried to get into it were to big for the 1-1/2" hole, so that's why I thought I'd try a 2" hole in this one.

sorry guess i was wrong.
Why didn't you face the plates the same direction?
I cannot imagine any bird using this nest. The metal would get so hot you would finish up with fried eggs or roasted bird. However, would be fine as a point of interest.
Baby birds are going to be seasick...needs to be stationary
Not suitable. Metal heats up in the sun turning this into an oven and can fry the contents.
