Made one of these quick deploy tethers and used it last week with my 10 foot pin. I absolutely love it as it worked perfectly for deploying my stick pin quickly and safely. My Robalo R160 was anchored in 4 feet of water with no problems while I fished for a few hours. Just finished making another for the stern. Thank you!

They work!! If the wind is blowing put them on the side to were the boat will rest on the anchors if they will hold your boat

They held last Saturday in Rend when the wind was blowing 16 and gusting to 25. I was impressed.

I made mine out of a 3/4 pipe tee fixed to my boat with a door flange. Its always there and i just push my pole through it and into the bottom. Plus with one up front and one in the rear it really helps stabilize the boat.

Great idea as well. I'm not sure how I ever got along without those poles.

@@TheWeekendAngler honestly ive only had mine installed for a short period of time. Actually made the poles out of some PVC for a handle and a thick fiberglass tomato stake from the garden section for about $9 each. Theyve made a huge difference in setting up for duck hunting and im really looking forward to using them for fishing as well

After seeing this and how the mechanism dosnt have to be complicated like everyone makes it I guess I’ll make a pole anker or two and just shove it through the two caring handles I have on the back of the Jon boat problem solved thanks

I noticed that you had the nut for the rod holders on the top I found that they are way stronger under the boat deck and have a flat peace on top to tighten the nut down to

Those rod holders use the monster rod holders rail mount. They thread into the rail mount bracket. The nut is only used to keep the rod holder from turning.

How well would they work on a river ?

They've held up in some pretty stiff winds before. I would think they could handle a little current also. But, remember, the shallow water anchors are only good to about 8 feet or so depending on their length.

Do you do both sides of the boat on this quick Deploy Tether???

  • @TheWeekendAngler

It depends. Sometimes I will toss a conventional claw anchor off the front of the boat and then use one (two if necessary) pin anchors off the rear corner of the boat. Other times I will put one pin off the front and one off the back. If you're not in a lot of wind or current, one pin will hold your boat. I prefer the stability that comes from having multiple anchor points, however.
