around 12 (way too many !!) and i am letting out the flip flops, a pair of crocs and soccer shoes ;) i think i have a problem

I’m currently so in love with minimal shoes, I think they’re 1000x better than bulky hypebeast shoes

I love the much less prescriptive way in which you approach these videos. No everyone needs black cap toe oxfords but equally not everyone needs white sneakers. The "choose you own adventure" take is very refreshing.

Love this series!

My honest opinion for an active guy. 1) gym sneakers 2) Running shoes (optional) 3) Work Shoes (oxfords,...) 4) Sneakers for casual outfits 5) Boots for casual outfits 5 shoes are minimum for a healthy and active lifestyle. Having less shoes will expose you to foot fungus etc.. personally I would have another work shoes.6 pairs for me.

Great👌 I would say a pair of black leather chelseas is a must too. I like to have staples and a few varients of each item to keep the wear and tear down as much as possible.

Definitely not a minimalist, but I gotta hand it to you Brock, the visuals in this video makes me slightly envious of the lifestyle.

I am loving these minimalist themes, the whole world needs to downsize. For the past twenty years everything I own can fit into a large suitcase, Hockey and two shoulder bags. I’ve rented furnished all these years and don’t miss having my own furniture, I gave up the TV in 1999 and have never missed it, not owned a car since 1994 and not missed that either. Oh and I paid off my debts in 1999 also. It’s not for everyone and I don’t tell people they have to live how I do but I would never go back now and I’m 55!

Really love your choices. The only thing that you should have also addressed is, that shoes wear out over time and if you have only one pair of each category you will be buying new shoes pretty frequently.

Quality video, love the way you broke down the different categories of footwear in a way that made sense. But one little complaint is the volume difference between your voice and the intro/outro music. In the very beginning I'll turn up the volume to hear your voice better then I'll get blasted with the intro music. Same at the end, I'll have the volume up for the majority of the video then the outro blasts me away.

Black capless oxfords go with black tie, if polished to a mirror shine. Therefore being a more versatile pair than cap toe oxfords.

the way i look at shoes: something for the summer/shorts; something for autumn/jeans; something for really shit weather. so a light sneaker/running shoes. waterproof chelsea boots in my case; and a wintery waterproof hiking boot if there's snow. and oxfords.

Got around 7-10 one nike spridon, tons of pairs of vans 3 authentics 3 old skool and 1 ski-8 high and Jordan 1 low university gold I’m more causal but I’m looking into getting some chuuka’s or some Chelsea boots

I love shoes, but I'm dreaming to downsize to only just two pairs (black dressy combat boots and black Vans ComfyCush Zushi SF) and see how it goes.

If I had only known that before. I have more than 200 pairs of shoes/boots, plus 20+ white sneakers and plenty of other sneakers.

great video as always; i really don't get the hype with the all white sneakers, maybe it's just me, but i really don't like them; i don't like white shoes at all; i think i also have way too many shoes, i try to use them all though except for the more formal ones, those i only use with suits

I didn’t used to get it either, until I got a pair. You can wear them with almost anything. That said, I think off white or grey are also very nice, versatile colors.

Brock- What is the best type of trouser for zipper chelsea boots?

I would call my collection "the extravagant ruralist." Eight pairs in total. One pair of nice dress shoes, a pair of black slip-resistant work boots(which I keep clean and occasionally even polish, because I encounter the public at work), a pair of sandals, sneakers, and then THREE pairs of super-casuals: a pair of Crocs for errands, and two pairs of soft-soled leather slippers. One pair of slippers lives by the door to the patio and is used exclusively for going out to the car, or stepping out for a cigarette, things of that nature, and the other is my dedicated house slippers. I do this to save the house slippers from undue wear and tear. When the "get something from the car" slippers are worn out, the current house slippers take their place and are themselves replaced with a new pair. The final pair is a set of "monster" slippers that my son picked out for me Christmas before last, because they resemble dinosaur feet and we share a love of Godzilla. These are beyond super-casual, neither particularly comfortable(lack of padding) nor durable(because walmart), and thus are rarely worn, but I can't let them go, and I have on occasion worn them for extended periods when I had a long weekend, particularly the long weekends when my son and I marathoned Kaiju movies

What's the reference of the black sneakers in " Urban warrior " ?

So far I have 5 pairs that I wear: 1. Running Shoes (New Balance) - Blue-Grey (bought on sale for $45) 2. Bike Toe Derbies (Clarks) - Tan (bought on sale for $54) 3. Plain Toe Derbies (Johnston and Murphy) - Burgundy (bought used for $8) 4. Cap Toe Oxfords, Quarter Brogue (Allen Edmonds) - Chili Brown (bought used for $58) 5. Hiking Boots (Red Head) - Brown (bought on sale for between $40-50) Even though only one or two of these are of above average quality overall (those being the AE's and possibly the J&M's), I've gotten more and more into looking for better quality stuff but for cheap (though that usually involves buying used but still in good wear or waiting for closeouts, factory seconds, big sales, or some combination of those 3 things). Also, I know I'm risking getting some flack for saying this, but am I the only one who HATES it with a passion when people wear boat shoes (or any enclosed shoe, really) barefoot? I know people can wear no-show socks and thus it can be hard to tell if they're truly barefoot or not, but to me, wearing fully enclosed shoes without socks is only good for clearing the room with foot odor when you take them off. It's a pet peeve of mine and I think it ought to be frowned upon. Yeah, I know, I'm pretty opinionated about this (lol), but it's a real issue that I think belongs in the "don't" category.

Personally, I'd switch the Chelsea boots for cowboy boots (ropers).

People who are into high end leather shoes recommend to have multiple options, variations if you will, of the same type. Leather needs time to dry. If you are going to wear same brown oxford each day, it will get toxic fast.

If I own all of those shoes can I still call it my minimal collection??

Did he just call "retro" to the sneakers everybody were wearing when I was a teenager? Wow man, I knew I was no longer a teenager but I still wasn't prepared for this lol

first pair of shoes i clicked in the desciption are almost 300 dollars. They look like regular white shoes to me. is there anything about them that makes them so expensive? maybe the material it is made up of.

I live in the Philippines and it gets muddy and dirty, so 3 shoes for a rotation ain't enough...need to have at least 6....I would take away the white one too and go for an all black here...

I think this VERY much depends on your lifestyle and geographical location. Trust me, you won't make it with dress shoes, chukka boots and a pair of sneakers in a climate where more than half of the year it is cold, rainy and snowy, with subzero winter temperatures. Or on the other hand if you live in subtropical or tropical climate, you're going to need also other shoes to get around. Something much lighter and more breathable...
