HOW TO BUILD A LOW BUDGET PLANTED TANK

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

We never did this before, but we actually built a 40-liter small planted tank on a relatively low limited budget here at Green Aqua. We used an affordable light and a filter and matched it with some other ingredients.
But then something happened overnight.... and Balázs made a serious twist at the end to make this planted tank nicer.
This low tech planted aquarium has already been taken home by a Green Aqua Customer - the next day after setup. So no updates will be available on it in the future. Sorry about that. But hey, we will do other guide videos so no worry.
We've picked all the products from the shelf to show you a cheaper alternative and we know you still can do it even cheaper in some parts of the World, but let's just keep the discussion to aquariums and less on budget and numbers. You always can save on costs in many ways.
Skip to 10 minutes to cut the waffle. :D Seriously, don't skip, if you're a beginner. ;) Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day!

Haha, I did not forget it in the first place. 😜 Also, I did not use it because it was sponsored, I used it because it was cheaper. 😜 Thirdly, I know aquascapers, for example Filipe Oliveira who really like these types of tweezers - he just loves JBL for example, which I would personally hate, so this was more of a subjective thing, not an "obedience" to a client, I would hate myself if I had to do that.

@@GreenAquaShop But it *IS* about that. The pre-emptive comment about people suggesting cheaper ways to do it - saying it's not about the budget (on a video explicitly titled a "budget" build) is disingenuous. You sell aquascape stuff - *all* of it is luxury. (And no it's not about being 'European'. I am too.) There's many channels on KZread describing how to do it on an *actual* budget. You don't need to compete with them. There's absolutely nothing wrong in selling and promoting high-end stuff. Some viewers will watch and buy, some will watch and aspire. Both are fine. It only becomes problematic when you do a "budget" video, then moan about those who might suggest a cheaper alternative, and underlay it with a song about money not being everything. It's quite simple to avoid annoying those viewers - just don't use the word "budget". It's just not what you're about. And that's fine!

Intank filter, no timer LED lamps (I’m the timer). Etc. It’s morelike a game if patience. I think somewhere Iune I’ll get to a lvl where no more plant growth will be needed and will get all the kind of fish and shrimp and snails to have a final form. ;) monthly cost is around 10 € for this and that....

It makes more sense in the long run to buy decent soil and substrate from the beginning - and of course as many plants as you can afford because you can add more plants and livestock later on in the life of the tank. Your builds are by fare the best on KZread and are fantastic tutorials. I’d love to come and visit your store in Hungry. It looks an absolute dream place.

Low budget, high budget doesn’t really matter what you put your hands to work with, it always turns out beautiful. I understand your frustration when people are always talking about money. I think they forget about one main thing: it’s not about money! This is art, it’s creative and it’s the pleasure of creating something from your own imagination. The pleasure you get from creating your own aquarium. For me, that’s what it’s all about. The hobby and all the joys it brings. If money is an issue for you but doing something like this is what you truly believe you want to do, then wait. Save some money and proceed when it best fits you. Instant gratification isn’t something that come with everything. Even tho videos look easy, theres a lot of work behind them. And it takes a lot to work to reach a skill set such as his. Maybe people should stop talking and listen? Might help. ☺️

Hi Balazs, I have just started to put together a set-up on a budget. But the way i budget is to buy a piece for the set-up each month and get the better quality end set-up. I got tank and filter in month one, then substrate and hardscape in month two. Once i had these i designed a hardscape layout and filed tank with water a started a dark start to cycle the set-up. I then purchased a light and plants in moth three which came as the tank completed its cycle. I then drained the set-up and planted the tank and filled with fresh water. the forth month I purchased a clean-up crew and month five my fish. I found this the best way to get a decent set-up on a budget.

@@BoguZzNL I didn't just throw a tank together. In my opinion I think my aquascape looks better, but maybe I'm biased. Either way you can achieve similar quality for 1/3 of the price or less. I collected my rocks from a nearby lake. The only things I spent money on was a £15, 10 gallon on sale (which I took the black boarders off), £15 heater £15 aquasoil, £2 playsand, £10 spiderwood. And £10 on plants (dwarf hairgrass, anubias, java moss and crypts.)

TY ty ty Green Aqua. i saw that u read my comment for the second time, and as i asked u made a video for low budget aquarium (or it was plan by you all along and is just a pure coincidence never the less big Tx). Now I have a better idea on what to start with. Going to visit your Online shop and take what i need from there.

Actually it was not a coincidence. Not only you but others have also asked for it so we thought it's time to meet the needs. Your feedback is really important to us, this is not just a courtesy fraise. Cool, come and visit our shop, we're happy to help.
