How to Build a Kill Team Board! Six Modular Chambers for Infinite Squad Based Chaos.[Part 1]

Ойындар

That Ork terrain's great, but what about the bombed out factory from the Trailer? We challenged Q to scratch build a 22X30 based on just that. As ever, our builds are on a tight budget, and can be made from stuff you'll find around the house, so get the cardboard out, It's time to build a battlefield!
In part 1, Q builds the first chamber, with a platform, and a scratch built terrain feature, which can be used as a narrative feature in the game, or just good cover. Over the next five videos, you'll see the board come together. That's not all we have in store for Killteam, G, our channel sculptor has been working on Objectives, and has a few custom Killteams in the works that'll feature on the channel.
We'll wrap everything up at the end with an essential start to finish guide, featuring the completed kill team. board.
Q got a headstart on this build in last weeks video Walls & Walkways, which you can check out here: / @trihardgamesworkshop
Sculpting a Killteam Narrative objective: • Entomb a Human in Wire...
All the techniques in these videos go back to our Sci-fi terrain essentials series, Concrete & Rust, which you can check out here: • Essential Terrain-Sci-...
The channel feels like it's starting to kick into gear and we really appreciate everyones support so far. It'd be great if you could fire us a sub and keep an eye on the channel over the next few months. We've got some great builds coming up.
tune in next week when Q builds the second chamber for the board, and until then, Trihard!

This!! This is exactly my thoughts on a modular Kill Team board brought to life! Super flat for playability, but detailed enough for immersion and style. And then the simplicity in modularity. Absolutely brilliant!

The wall parts would be really cool with magnets built in and onto the board. That way you could have the same boards but switch where the walls are in some games.

I would have thrown a leadbelcher dry brush at it followed by a nuln oil wash.

Love the build! I do think the paint could do with a bit more work, a dry brush on some of it with gunmetal and a wash would add a lot to this.

Thank you very much! To be fair It only took a few days to complete 1 and two weeks to build the whole thing. It is a technique to spend time rather than money.

What is the material at the bottom of the cardboard?

  • @TrihardGamesWorkshop

Vinyl floor tile, you can get them in loads of lengths & thickness. Gives a solid yet flexible base

I'm new to the whole DIY terrain game, can I ask just 1 question? What's the difference between cardboard and card stock?

I’ve never seen anyone use a floor tile. Do you have any issue with warping, or is it stiff enough to keep its shape?

  • @TrihardGamesWorkshop

    @TrihardGamesWorkshop

    2 жыл бұрын

the floor tile was actually a reaction to the warping that cardboard always experiences, the stiffness of the floor tile provides a good base, its also probably the last thing anyone would think of using

I really wanna make something like that too but everytime I tried the base material just warps.

we noticed that too, we've taken to using sturdier bases now, vinyl floor tile in our most recent iterations. However we noticed that the cardboard tends to warp if it's not spray painted, nice layer of plastic coating(mod podge also works), sturdies up that cardboard stock.
