How to build a humbucker sized P90 (that sounds like a real P90!)
Музыка
A step by step guide from the Alegree workshop on how we build humbucker sized P90s using our proprietary 'Real P90 tone' bobbins.
The rationale behind why these pickups sound much more like a real P90 than typical humbucker sized P90s can be found in this video here - • Why do so many humbuck...
The parts used in the video can be purchased in a kit from our website directly here - www.alegree.co.uk/collections...

Wow. I could never manage that. Bomb-makers skills you have mate ;-)
Wow. This is really cool.
great vid
Interesting video, would there be an issue of the magnets being grounded?
Do you sell completed humbucker sized p90’s instead of just a kit?
Curious as to the make of your 3D printer
Hi there. Do the p90s you sell on your website (old timer p90s) use the full sized bobbin you mention here as opposed to the single coil in a humbucker case?

No, these are exclusive to the Alegree hand wound line.
Just a thought - since you’re 3D printing the bobbins for your HB size P90s, have you considered printing a bobbin that uses a rail magnet instead of individual pole pieces ?

Yes - I've done that before, I've played around with some humbucker sized Charlie Christian designs in that format.
What hb sized p90s would you recomend for punk rock/ rock that can also do some cleaner stuff?
@Alegree

Smokes or Murkys would be most appropriate
Have you tried taking a regular p90, switching out the base plate and cover only, and use the orig. bobbin and winding as is?

The p90 bobbin is wider than the size of a humbucker
Is there any way you could share the 3d files to these so that you can print it at home if you have a 3d printer already?

No, the designs are proprietary and we sell the bobbins.
Tonerider has it figured out
Was starting to watch this video and I am a bit confused... I know is an old video, but why are you printing the bobbing flat? If you print vertical you won't need any support.
@Alegree

It does need support if rotated 90 degrees for the core of the bobbin. The problem is that the finish does not come out as aesthetically pleasing on the top of the bobbin. It's also more difficult to remove the supporting material that way around.

@@Alegree hmmm... I'll try to find some stl and make some tests, just thought it would waste much less plastic on this way :)
how tall is the bobbin?
@Alegree
4 жыл бұрын
Between 30-50% taller than a normal humbucker bobbin, depending on the number of winds and wire gauge that it has to accommodate.
Would you recommend alnco 2 magnets
@Alegree

Alnico 2 can be great.

What wire you use? 44 AWG? Looks like for 10000 turns 42 AWG definitely not enough...

More interesting than how to build a humbucker sized P90 is how to FIND a P90 sized humbucker. Anyone?

All this without hearing the sound of it? Man, that is so wrong.
My cousin knows talking like burping.
So technically... I could buy a humbucker that I like. Stack the coils, feed the screws in, then slap two bar magnets in to make a hum cancel p90???

You'd have something that resembles a P100.
