what kind of plastic pipe did you use? I've tried PVC and it seems too heavy for the plastic bin top to hold the weight long term.

HDPE/LDPE = high/low density poly*ethylene* (i.e. polythene), not polypropylene. This would be why the cements you tried didn't work - PE is famously difficult to bond to, in fact it's typically used for packaging adhesives, as nothing sticks to it! You might have better luck welding it, but I think that practically the screw-and-gasket solution you used is probably best. Lovely build! Thanks - will use a version on my snake enclosures, too.

Cool video. I'm thinking of converting an old swamp cooler into a massive humidifier. It already has a fan and a float valve. Just replace the water pump with a mister, and block off where the pad is.

Hi thanks for the video..I used before a big ULTRASONIC but when i used tap water and the calcium is all over a white fog and you can smell it in the air. Now i use humidifyer with hot mist and is now perfect .. If you use Ultrasonic with tap water dont use it inside the house

Can I put the fan on the end of the tube instead? I'm building an humidifier for a little greenhouse outside and I'm figuring out how to protect the air extractor from the rain in the simplest way. So if I put the air extractor at the end of the tube and make some holes on the top of the water container in order to provide air circulation... do you think it might work? 🤔

Has the fan lasted the test of time? I I know ip67/68 are suppose to be submersible for a certain amount of time but all day with droplets of moisture on it thought would test it.i actually had one die very quickly with this set up I think my container was a bit shallow so the splashback destroyed it even being ip67.

I've done this in a 5 gal bucket for a while and I'd get this white almost limescale all around it. I've been told it's calcium deposits from using tap water? I don't use tap water tho I use R.O water specifically for my humidifiers. Have you had this issue? If so how did u fix it?

Anybody know where I could find the bracket for the PVC pipe to the box? I just left Home Depot with no luck

Hey mate, if you have a jigsaw, make a wooden template of the anti splash tube to lid adaptor, then pull the lid off and screw it in from underneath with the wood on top of of the lid to sandwich the lid. Your condensation would just drop straight back in to the tub. What a great looking build though! Very impressive!

What kind of splitter (two output splitter) did you plug into your Inkbird humidity controller ? Is it an ordinary one or is a DFCI one ? Also, why is it the we can't plug our fan AND fog machine DIRECTLY into our Inkbird humidity controller ? If anyone can answer those questions I would greatly appreciate ! :D

I see you added the UV light to your description list. I assume that just to kill some bacteria and other non-usefull items from the water. Im ainly looking to remove calcium so I don't end up with white-crap all over the place.Im guessing I will have to put in an external filter connected between the water line and this tank correct? Okay, so I just built it and am now at the point of creating airflow intake and output. Would you think it makes a difference if the in/out is on the side, rather than on the top? For maintenance purposes it would be nicer to have everything on the side of the bin, rather than in the lid. I'm thinking of using a 240v inline fan to generate the airflow. Could that be too powerful and compact the mist to droplets again? Thanks!

I dont even use one now. I keep the humidifier outside the fruiting chamber and it prevents spore ingress into the tank. If you do run you can probably get away with only running one for an hour or two each day.

Could u run tudeing alone the ceiling and pump it over the top of ur racks or make a y fitting an place ur tub in the middle of ur grow an shoot mist both ways in two different direction athhesame time.maybe to mush moisture on ur shrooms

Yes you could, although tubing over the top of the racks would drip onto the mushrooms, and if there's bacteria in the water it can deform the mushrooms clusters I think.

The tote being in the grow room allows that cpu fan to suck in all the spores and deposit the in the water. Your water will be dirty and full of spores, blowing them all around the grow room possibly shortening the pond foggers life as well. I removed my CPU fan and hooked up my intake duct, boom, water stays much cleaner. I also rigged up a five gallon bucket with a line to the float fill outside my grow tent to refill the tote. I just keep the bucket filled and don't have to open my grow tent several times a day anymore.

The ultrasonic mister came with it's own power supply.

So you have the ultrasonic generator on work 1 of the inkbird and nothing on work 2? So it just switches off at a certain setpoint?

that's how those inkbirds work. Work 2 would be for a dehumidifier. Inkbird makes great stuff!

hey, is it possible to disassemble the mist and then assemble again? I guess you have all sorts of issues with your gear. It has no screws. My new unit start off and on automaticly I suspect the internal wiring but a bit scary to disassemble that. Thank you

No, you can't take the ultrasonic humidifiers apart. They are filled with epoxy.

Would like to build one. Just not sure of which ultrasonic plate will fit which power supply

You need to see what amps the plate is drawing, and get a power supply that has more. Voltage needs to match also.

When the water rises, it closes the valve.

Does this device bring down room temperature? Can you please quantify the temperature drop?

It will initially, as when air is humidified the temperature drops. But once the air is already at 90% humidity, and you are turning the humidifer on and off to keep It there, the temperature will not drop as much. It's always cooler in there than it is outside.

I also made as per your idea Everything works fine One problem i faced all the time.... My cpu fan stops working after 3-4 day of use I had replace 3 but just want to know what reason can be there

You need an IP67/IP68 fan. IP means 'ingress protection' and IP 68 means it's fully waterproof and can generally operate under water. Search digikey, then filter DC fans by IP rating.

You can't really turn a drum into a pressure cooker as they cannot hold the anount of pressure required (15 psi) You can turn them into a zero pressure sterilizer, or ever a very low pressure steriliser (1 or 2 psi). Sterilizing at asmospheric pressure means it just takes a lot longer.

I agree. You want ZERO pressure. Its more like a super pasteurizer. I run mine for 24-30 hours. Shut it off and let them sit in the drum for a week.

@@justinlangley9529 actually it doesnt because i already have a que waiting in advance. And this is what how what the fungus does. I let em sit for a week to ensure they are properly sealed and cooled down. You dont want to inoculate blocks that at the core have high temps because it will kill of some of the colonized grain spawn. This is evident with mossy creek mushrooms as well. And also if your on a bi weekly production this makes perfect sense.

So i got a problem!! I did everything you have done but out of 10 days running, there 2 days that the humidifier didn’t stop by itself ( i need 45% rh ). So when i arrived the humidifier was in alarm and was working for a couple of hours and didn’t stop at 45% The setting are not the problem, but my transfo is in a cold place like around 5-9 celsius is this the problem??

What are you using to control the humidity? Some controllers break easily and the relays get stuck on..

How has the fogger held up so far? Can you provide links for the purchases? I've purchased a House of Hydro 3 disk fogger. If I could save some money and get a 10 disk for a decent price I'd appreciate it. Yours looks well good.

It's still working nicely. Haven't had any problems. I put a dash of hydrogen peroxide in each week and it stops any algae growing in it and keeps it nice and clean.

Bleach would be a horrible idea. Buy the UV lamp listed in the parts list.

yea use a hydrostat. it will turn this machine on when the humidity drops below a certain threshold.

looks to me like you would get a ton more humidifier with a bigger hole/pipe. when you lifted the lid tons came out :D

I used my intake duct instead of pcu fan. My water was getting dirty, full of spores. It's better to keep humidifier tote outside grow room and pump it in with pipes/duct.

My room was like 8 x 15. The 10 head was perfect. Any smaller and it struggled to hunidify on a hot dry summers day.

Great work! Although, with the fan you are using, I'm thinking there might be wasted energy with using so many discs, with that fan? - it might be reaching the humidity limit way faster than it needs to. I'm building one for comfort level (20% humidity open air up here in the high north). Tried using just evaporation and fabric sheets wicking from the bottom to increase surface area. It has roughly 80% humidity but my fan is run off of a usb battery bank, so roughly 45% speed. The sheets are dry near the fan, but wet where it exits. But it hardly makes a dent 4ft away. But I'm leaning more towards ultrasonic foggers now. I'll probably try using a better power supply first but I really don't think it will matter much. And I'm fearful of inevitable mold.

What happens if you drop a load in it?

I picked this up for work. My last one was smaller kzread.infoUgkxtD9aJ2m6GU-X1IChQxjn9l31K1A7Kpwj and cuter but the motor burned out within a few months. This one's footprint is a tad bigger but it still doesn't eat up a lot of desk space. Its size and shape blends into the background nicely. This has a good size water container so I don't need to refill more than once a week. I use filtered (not distilled) water because cleaning up after our hard water is tough at work. I like that this has several settings. It's also very quiet. (I have a silence naxi in the next cubicle.) It also hasn't left that terrible while powder, so far, that some humidifiers leave. Been using this for a month or so now and am very happy with my purchase.

sanding the plastic with 120 grit sandpaper will make the adhesives stick better ! its not that its smooth its that the plastics have a static charge that will repel the glues / adhesives. by using sand paper you will #1: make a grippy area for the adhesives to grab & #2: remove the plastics ability to generate that static charge in the sanded area. I need to make one of these but need to find a reputable source here in Canada for the mister / fogger. I do not trust all the Chinese sellers on ebay/amazon

Running electrics is weird. Looks like a high effiency build. Trust me there alot of things that i would have done differently while building my facility.

It would have been a lot simpler and more efficient if you had a 2-3x taller tub. You would not have needed the lid and everything that is above it and it could humidify even faster thus using less power. At the very least the pipe should have twice as wide.

Due to the scale in the water, ultra sonic misters cause white dust to settle on everything in the house. No thanks.

I’m guessing it could be your water… I’m in CA, our water is trash… you might need to get a water deionizer

Don't Use Ultrasonic Humidifiers personally [hygiene] they only make a waste product dampness which is swooped off direct to the nearest compost pile for processing to rejuvenation. The way the ultrasonic type misters vibrates and ejects the moist substance used is the same as atmospheric tumbling and that is a kind of backwoods, non human air in cycle which is pumped off in the daily process. All you are doing is suppling the air you breathe with waste type humidity. The scientist which did this wasn't very observant, check it out, it actually 'runs' from your hand down to the floor and then it 'creeps' out of your house, somehow. Damn Martians among us.
