I put the kit with large cards in my Amazon cart !!! I received my walnut buck saw and case a few months ago and absolutely love the fact I can carry my Gransfors SFA together!!! Fantastic saw and case that will become a Family Heirloom !!!

@@noog8756I still have a few months of going through my remaining “roughs” so you can technically still get one. But I’m mainly interested in developing more camping innovations and items, takes a lot of my time to handcraft the saws so I’ll have more time to dedicate to videos and new items

@@TheBearEssentials I'd imagine teaching your skills to an apprentice to eventually take over the manufacturing for you may not serve the goal of freeing up more time for you in the near term; but might serve well later on if it keeps you from having to periodically downsize your growing product line as you move on to developing and introducing new and more personally rewarding innovations?

DJ I can’t tell you how incredible these knots have been to me! I learned then then forgot them. I have just now ordered the tin card large size. Their not going to get to me till Thursday! WHAT? Crazy! I’ve got an easy return that’s going back. But first I’ve GOT TOGet Up in the Morning! Thank you for those cards before they get here anyways.

The graphic showing what a ridgeline is, was very helpful. I also like how slow and deliberately you talk.I like the idea of laying on the ground to ensure its long enough, especially if going through all this trouble because the ground is wet.

DJ, great video. I received my knot tying kit - love it. Perfect size to fit in my small EDC bag. The cards are a great help so I will always be able to refer back in case I forget how to tie a particular knot. Knowing the application and capabilities of various cordage types is important, glad you touched on that! It will help me avoid a face full of dirt and pine needles!

Awesome, thank you!!! If you want it as just a side pouch or to atatch in a canoe etc then the snap ones are best - but for holding an axe on the side - go for the rivet one!

@@TheBearEssentials They tend to vote off the annoying and unproductive around camp first. Doesn't strike me you'd be the former, and you certainly wouldn't be the latter. You'd probably only be at risk of being voted off early if the others all started thinking you'd inevitably win if they didn't get rid of you while they had the chance.

Good stuff! That's definitely the best way Ive found to setup tarps with ridgelines like that!

i know.. it is a bit of nitpicking.. but i have a tip for you on that square lashing: you start with the clove hitch, then rotate that clove hitch so the crossing of the hitch is on the side and the rope points straight up (or: straight to the other log) . then you start with the 'over', straight up. That way, you do not have a diagonal anywhere (visible at 2:34), which is a cause of the square lashing to work itself loose. And while going under the bottom log with the rope, make sure to tuck the end under the rope, so that first clove hitch can't work itself loose either.

Another killer video, thanks for sharing DJ. Question, in Step 4 you suggest UHWMPE Rope. Would bank line be durable enough for a support in this situation?

Hey Rob, Bankline generally is made of twisted Nylon - so it will have some level of stretch - but will work better than paracord for the hang part. You will likely have to angle the slope of the shelter up on a 45 so it stretches down to flat haha.. I dont know forsure though as I havent tested it out personally.. Just make sure your bankline is #96 or #120, not the thin #36 stuff thats common ( just because the higher numbers have a higher tensile strength closer to 1000lbs)

Another good production as usual :D BTW, when are you going to make a crap video so I can seriously trash at you? :P On a side note, few things I'd do different just to maximize the setup: I'll notch both branches at the intersection to make it stronger and reduce stress on the knots. And ....and.. well... that's it. heh As for the cordage, I was thinking that DCF cordage might be less slippery. But much more pricier so not worth it tho. Stay safe in the woods P.S. 6:04 to 6:09 "I'm not crashing, I'm alive! Woaaa".. Pricless ;)
