    This hardware kit is pretty impressive especially those corner brackets through and through outside and inside but I would have added corner braces in each corner let into the framing and also I would have only put four floats so that it floats down in the water a little bit closer to the surface but otherwise really cool build

    I'm sure joist hangers or similar inside corner hangers would do the same and far less cost. I would keep outside corners using bolts and heavy brackets though

    Is 2x6 construction ok? I have to muscle the sections out ofnthe water every year. I was thinking 2 ten by ten sections. Blue skin all joists. Itll last longer.

    How long would a dock like this last permanently installed in a lake? Would rough wake splashes eventually damage the pressure treated wooden frame? If so, is there anything you would recommend to prolong the life of such a dock? Great video by the way, clear and to the point. Thanks!

  • @seaportmarine6815

    @seaportmarine6815

    A dock like this should last anywhere between 15 - 30 years even in rough water. The reinforcing hardware should keep the frame from twisting apart if installed correctly. The best thing you can do is see what the most common building material used by marine contractors in your area is. Hope that helps.

    what float do you use for 16" on center i want to use 36"x48"x16"high but most 4' don't have 16" on center, most have only 3 screw down points

    The floats that were used in this video measured to 48"L x 24"W x 16"H and their mounting points were 24" on center. I was not able to use all 6 mounting points but were able to use at least 3 per float. As long as it has at least 3 points of contact, you will be fine.

    Pressure treated lumber is going to last longer. Non-pressure will probably rot away within 5 years. You'll need to check the laws of your area.
