Great video. For a complete novice like me at DIY this is perfect and looks straight forward enough to have a go as desperately need a small seating area in garden
Thank you so much! I've been thinking about building my own small deck and this is exactly what I was looking for. It looks attractive and not too complicated for a novice. I can't wait to get started!
Thanks a lot! This was helpful. my husband and I are thinking of saving money and building our own deck.
Great work here really helps everyone get a general idea 👍🏻👍🏻

You're welcome 😄
Do you put pilot holes into the joists within the structure or just the end? Just about to build a raised deck in a week or so.
@bandq do you have a rough cost cor all the raw materials to make this deck to this size (all wood, all screws)
It's a nice little platform
Why or when would you need to install decking posts?
I like this mans enthusiasm.

Good video nice one
How did he secure it to the ground ?
What size coach screws do you use in the video?
Does the decking just sit on gravel without being anchored to the ground?

@@bandq thanks for the reply
It looked like the deck was slightly raised at the end (9.30), how was this done?

Hi, please see 8:04 for this. It's the way the facing board has been attached 😊
Nice deck but : Suggest using galvanized brackets ( called hangers here in North America) to support joists versus using only screws in each joist end and - more of an overhang on the decking beyond the trim board added on the sides of the deck .

Just need a garden. ;-)
+bandq - Your 400mm c/c diagram is incorrect. It shows a gap of 400mm instead of centre to centre, which would be a 350mm gap approximately.
Looks like joist are two foot on center. Joist should be 16 inch on center for 5/4 inch thick deck boards.
Glad to here you are going to make another video please don't have that arm waving Wolly that left all the work to the very capable lassie. If left on her own she would have done it in half the time..Apart from him it was a good video.
