    Hi Jeff, First of all, thanks for all the videos you create. Some of them were extremely useful in a remodeling project we just finished - not DIY, but being rather handy with projects, I'm a very involved client - especially the one in which you featured Trademark Soundproofing's products, since my new office needed to be soundproof. I'm in the midst of laying deck tiles (this part and a few others I'm doing myself) on my rooftop and one lesson I learned from my neighbor was to label each pedestal. They had their roof redone and the roofer put the pedestals back wherever he wanted, so his tiles are all wobbly, so I'm using a screwdriver to mark the pedestals with their "coordinates" (i.e. A1, A2 ... A9, B1, B2, and so on). This way, if I ever have to remove the tiles I won't have to spend a day and a half re-leveling everything. Again, thank you!

Spent 5 mins trying to figure where got the measurement, of 5 1/8; as I had diff answer & thought I was going crazy....so glad, I’m just still a tad bit crazy 🤪👍🏻 That deck system, is a nifty cool system. Pretty awesome pedestal, especially being adjustable in multiple directions/heights.... Cheers ✌🏻

Half on the slab and half right on the ground. I wish I could email you pictures. It’s beyond hilarious. Thanks to you I’m able to take it apart while my husband is at work. Hello I'm a new follower and subscriber. Very interesting wood patio setup. I also have multiple weird uneven slabs for a patio. I've been wanting to find someone to remove the multiple slabs an pour one but this gives me another option. Thanks. I also want to build a two patio covers in our backyard. One open an one closed and a raised roof deck over one of the two future patios off of my one story house. Not sure if I need to remove slabs or cut holes into the cracked unevem slabs for the patios/roof deck posts or can I just bracket them down? I'm guessing its better to cement the posts in thru the existing slabs then build. If i was to become a member of your diy team, is it possible to consult with you on my options? Thanks I'm advance from S. TX.

    Seems like it’s probably not a concern, but do you need to worry about water getting under the deck and settling on the slab? I don’t worry about it with the slab open, but with no sun and limited airflow getting to it, is there something that needs to be done to prevent mold or other issues?

    @Home RenoVision DIY - Hey Jeff - I have a question. Can we do this same thing if the patio is raised? I live in a house that was built in the early 1960s by my Grandparents. They added a patio on the back of the house that is about 18 in off ground level. The "slab" is about 8 in thick and seems to only be supported around the outside by concrete blocks underneath. We cannot see any further under to see if there is support in the middle. We would like to add a larger deck because this has crazy measurements (it's like a bowling alley). We would like to go over the cement and extend and use composite decking. Can this be done without busting out the cement slab? Also, we live in Illinois, so about the same climate as Nova Scotia. Love the channel! Thank you for any help!

    Diamond grind and self leveling concrete would be the alternative. That runs about 8 bucks a square foot in some places. Or hammer out the concrete and do a traditional post and joist patio. 18 inches is preferred minimum height on these decks to allow airflow. (according to their website}

    Yes, also water will still pool to the foundation if the slab is not leveled properly first. Most important step #1 should have been to level the concrete by hiring professionals to prevent future basement water issues, and then only then installing the deck. Also would have been much easier on a level surface.

    Note to self, never buy an Evolution saw. :/. Their blades are decent but the saw itself is horrid. Anyway, with this system, is there way to utilize it with curves opposed to corners on the perimeter?

    Is there a video on using concrete blocks for a deck besides the one you have on the deck you are leveling from? We have a cracked concrete slab I would like to build a deck over.

    @@suivzmoi I've seen this one. The deck I want to build is only going to be barely off the ground. Just a square small deck. I didn't know if I needed to use all the hardware that's being used on a bigger deck. Thanks

    Might sound silly , but I`ve never seen many videos on how . Can you do a Video on laser levels. Start to finish on how to set up and what not... They always say they have set up their laser level. But how? I`ve always been intrigued.

    Try a right hand saw seeing as you are right handed, also a 12 inch miter and a chisel not a five way knife. .... just saying, other than that good job and a nice system! Your video's are fun and a good thing sir:)

    The mounts/footings clearly have screw holes to fasten down the plastic footing. How come you aren't screwing them into the concrete with red-heads or some other concrete anchor? BTW, no Advantage Lumber/KZread sponsor promo code for a discount?

    Can you lay treated wood directly on a concrete slab when building a deck, or does it have to be raised?

    If your slab is flat then you can install these panels directly on the surface using the small clips I showed in the beginning. Cheers!

    @@HomeRenoVisionDIY Thanks! I'm saving these panels for the front yard to go over the sidewalk stairs and front porch. I'm just using 2 X 6 X 12 treated boards for a shed foundation and extended deck. So I wanted to just lay them directly on the cement and over the rock area beside it. On the rocks, I'm using the same treated wood to frame it so it will be level with the cement. I was wondering if there has to be any actual space between the wood and cement in case it rains, etc...I so appreciate your videos. They are my go to contractor vids!

    To make anything better, there needs to be a dog on deck! I have a concrete slab off the back of my house above ground that the owners before me attached a deck to -leaving the ugly concrete slab full of problems and water issues. Finally got the water issue solved. This looks like an easy fix, more expensive than what I had in mind but easier. I assume the tile connecters can be fixed to the concrete- masonry screws? Thanks

    Try to get in the habit of letting the blade stop before lifting it up. You could get some kickback from the cutoff moving into the spinning blade. Also, I think you need a new “chisel”.
