Lowe's Sponsored this video where I show how easy it can be to build a deck. I used their easy to use Deck Designer Software to design a beautiful and easy to build deck, then took the print out into Lowe's where they gathered the materials for me and delivered it right to the building site.

I’ve seen a lot of bull shit decks that are easily done, lazy craftsmanship. Though this video is a little on the advanced side. This is a legit deck. It really doesn’t get much better than this. It was brilliantly laid out. No chatter. No dumb music. Thanks for sharing this. I’ve watched over 30 videos tonight and this is the one.

How can people legally get away with all the permits and codes. Do they just not ever planning to sell the house so it doesn’t matter

They dont it bites them in the ass when the property value is assesed and the plans dont show a deck than they get fined ans it has to be inspected ans than they get a permit@carlindurfee7566
I found the chapters in kzread.infoUgkxYGamVaHfdHiPlAQaLa7zkwR02OKpGYDU to be very relevant to my project as I embarked on building my first ever structure from the ground up. I especially found this Ryan’s Shed Plans to be of great use when it came to building the roof. I was able to do all the cuts and installation by myself, with a little reference to this Ryan’s Shed Plans.
My father built two decks around our house one summer when I was kid. This really makes me appreciate what he did. Because he made it seem like it was just another day in the park.
One of the most straight forward, comprehensive videos I’ve seen explaining each step…and I’ve built decks before. Very well done without making the video unnecessarily long like others.
One thing you did wrong. I didn't see a beer throughout the entire video. You can't build an outdoor structure, without the presence of a frosty beverage.

Such a gorgeous book - each shed is unique and inspiring, and I love all the tiny details Kotite features to help readers imagine how to create their own She Sheds kzread.infoUgkxe9yi0sulKgsp0VJJCIrLWWkvVqcU7LFR . The feature on Dinah's Rustic Retreat is like something from a fairy tale. Man i swear , i did framing with my step father for 3 years and hated every day of it , but could never figure out why. Then i watch this man's videos and realise that everything we did was the hard way not the smart way.

This DIY home improvement video on deck building was fantastic. It not only saved me a ton of money on labor but also gave me the confidence to take on more DIY projects. Highly recommended!
As a self-made handyperson, this was the best and most helpful deck video yet. The key points that you touched on pretty much answered all of the detail I have been struggling with ie ending with a full deck board

Amazing! You saved my new job with this video. I'm a project manager of a small construction company. I have to bid out all materials and labor. I haven't done this in 20 yrs since my husband passed. We had our own small construction company. God Bless You my dear!
Larry Haun taught me what my father never did. This guy is to the point, practical, step by step, and even puts in some humor and humility. A teacher of teachers while being single handedly a mentor to hundreds of thousands that will never get to meet him in person to shake his hand or give him a hug. Shout out to this channel for keeping it all flowing. I thank you one and all who keep this content posted.
I started my deck about 2 weeks ago following this video and oh my god I feel like superman! Super easy to follow and while it will take some time (5 foot woman with not much for strength) for me to finish, I'm very excited! I've gotten more help with the sections I don't feel comfortable doing and I'm having someone build the stairs for me since I don't even want to attempt that and mess up what I've done. This is tiring work but has been worth it already. THANK YOU!!! Anybody that thinks you can't do this, you're more than wrong! You can! And you will! So satisfying!

How much is it costing you?
Tip for those building a deck.. Increase the beam size using a free beam calculator like forte, increases the distance it can span unsupported.. Then you don't have to dig as many footings. Cost is usually a wash. Great video!
Those footings are massive! As a deck builder Its rare to find a customer who is comfortable with the extra cost. Im glad to see you put in the extra effort and didnt shy away from a difficult task! Keep up the good work!
Great job and very well thought out, using this as the basis for my deck! Thanks for the help

Great video! One of these days I’ll get around to rebuilding my deck and I’ll refer back to this again. Thanks!

No matter how we all ended up here, we're glad we did! Thanks Third Coast Craftsman, this was very educational.
This is the best video I've seen on the basics of this project. Will be watching it about 20 more times before we start ours this spring! Thanks so much!
All done without a framing nailer, palm nailer and GRK lag bolts. Oh and last but not least a quick drive for the floor boards. You guys are awesome!
Now that's how you build a sturdy good quality deck. Great job! Best I've seen.
Im a badass welder fabricator worked very lil with wood but watching this has helped. You do great work man thanks for the lessons
Beautifully done and very well thought out! Thanks for sharing your knowledge... I only wish when I build our deck next spring I do half as good a job! Thanks again!
This is perhaps the best video I've seen on building the foundation for a deck.
This was freakin perfect. Well laid out steps to follow, the way shots were filmed and their transition, and the way you speak flows. Thank you! Retreat center projects in the redwoods!
Never seen the speed square under the tape trick when laying out your joists. Looks very effective!
…and another lunch hour flashes by! Great work and a great watch. Thanks!
This is good. You cover everything well, give solid advice, and you don't waste time.
Amazing job! To sit back and look at the finished product must feel good.

Very good demonstration of how to build a "floating" deck with no ledger board connection. Makes it easier because you don't have to worry about properly sealing/flashing the ledger which a lot of people don't get right. I would much rather dig extra footings than use a ledger connection.
I know this posted 4 years ago, but thank you so much for explaining every step of the way💜💜

Thanks mate, great video for me. My plan is to build a new deck next year as summer is on its way in South Australia. Thanks for the guidance.
Thank you for sharing the Lowes Deck Builder. I really appreciate it
beautiful work, you're an inspiration!
Pretty good video. Bonus for telling people to let the wood season before coating with anything. One issue though, in all my years of construction the one thing an inspector will tell you to correct, is the lack of gap in the decking. You could be fishing those boards out of the ocean, but it's still better to finish nail as a spacer to avoid a headache.
you make it look so easy, I just designed a deck for a firm in texas using camo hidden fastening system

Nice video! No need for the joist hangers on the rim board though. I guess you could use them upside down since the rim board is hanging from the joists. Hangers are only necessary if the joist is butting into its support piece without being supported within 4’ of the connection.
@webgem14
Жыл бұрын
I wish I’d seen this comment before building my deck. The upside down joist hanger is a pretty good idea. You could use them for and they would provide extra support for the rim joist, facing, and rails. They could also be easier to attach. The main thing they do right side up is help align your nails for toenailing on the inside of the rim. Doing that also does attach the hanger to the joist, which then is attached to the rim. So that does provide some support but not as much as the other way.
You are so talented and a great teacher to your team. This video was amazing... I can’t wait for my husband and I to do ours !! Tooo excited.
