A fun little container. A good bar folder and a wiring machine sure make the task so much easier. Yeah old copper Smith in Rockford. Enjoyed....😊

Great "step by step" instructions. Keeping the trade going ! Back in the day, I would wrap electrical friction tape or duct tape around my fingers and palm where the metal would ride. It gave me better control, while not getting cut. Wearing gloves in the shop I was in, could cause your hand to get sucked into the machines. Especially doing repetitive motions. I did have a close call one time, and had my finger crushed wearing gloves, It could have been much worse. That scared me, so I only used the tape after that. Humbly yours, from the "old metal guy" fan club. :)

Thank you, James! The tape is a cool idea! I might try that! And yes, there are definitely tools that do NOT allow for glove wearing, that's for sure. The old 1800s ones thankfully do! lol! And YAY for the 'old metal guy' fan club. heeeheehe!!

Wonderful craftsmanship. I have a million questions, is this the best forum to ask you? Questions like what is the best hammer face to work copper. Leather?, Felt? Plastic/nylon? Copper? Etc. I also have questions on stakes and other tool questions, then questions about gauge of copper, tinning etc. Now i will go back to your older videos and see if you have covered these in the past.

Thank you, John. You can definitely ask questions here (and I will answer them - even if I'm a few weeks late!). Best hammer for copper depends on what you are doing. Planishing and raising you want metal. For flattening or finishing seams, use rawhide so you don't scratch.

We’re remodeling our kitchen and I’m planning to hang my cookware (including some copper pots) on a rod over my range. I live this look but dies being near the heat source cause them to tarnish quicker? I noticed after cleaning and hanging them they lose their shine even if I don’t use them. Is there a polish I should be using after cleaning that might prolong that hard-earned shine?

Yes, the heat will help speed up the oxidation (darkening). You could try Eve Stone's Copper and Brass paste polish. That seems to make the shine last a bit longer for me. :)

I am trying to finish my first copper thing. A mulling come. It's turning out pretty rough. I only have to tin it yet. I think it's going to turn out like crap. I wish I knew what I was doing. I feel bad. 😷

No, the one I'm using here is just straight propane. Acetylene usually will burn through copper sheet this thin.

Hey i have an old traditional big kettle which base is indented badly in recent move, its delicate and has carving work done but I have no clue how to fix this as its not standing properly and If I hammer it, its carving might get ruined. I want to send you pic of this to give you a better understanding but don’t know how. Are you on insta?
