How to Build a Coffin for Halloween out of Insulation Foam

Фильм және анимация

This is a step by step guide to building a coffin for your Halloween or just scaring the crap out of someone. I use insulation foam boards you can get at most hardware stores. From cutting, to painting to assembly, I will walk you through the steps. #justandrea #andrea #halloween #coffin

Great JOB and greetings from Spain! I envy you because in my country we have not foam like yours and when I founded something similar, it´s very expensive. Here we have to use another materials, like MDF or plywood. THANKS FROM SPAIN!!!

You did a hell of a good job. Looks great. I had doubts at the beginning but you sold me on this. I need a coffin to lean next to my dracula and this will be perfect. Thank you so much

If you build it, use the 2”. I had the 1” so that’s what I used but the 2 will be so much stronger! Thanks for your comment.

This is very nice. I would suggest using some sandpaper to take out the shine from the paint. Just very lightly

I was originally looking for a Coffin Shelf to make that wasn't wood for a cute all year or just Halloween prop but now seeing this I really want to make this for my Bartholomew (my skeleton) to sleep in. Though adding a bit of creepy cloth on the inside would definitely complete the look thanks for the tips!

Excellent job!! Someone stole my coffin off my lawn last year and now I have been trying to find a new one and they are much more expensive than what I originally paid for and super flimsy. I have been trying to find simple building instructions to make my own coffin. Thanks for the video!

Outstanding job! Can you please tell me about your hinges and how did you secure them to foam? I'm making a rectangle box for a casket and want 3/4 of the lid to be open.

Thank you!!! Very well, I wish I could add a picture, I just put it out for Halloween. But 2” foam would have been sturdier. But it still looks the same!

I use a wire brush to drag on the foam for “wood grain”. Works great. You can adjust your pressure for added depth.

Great Build! I use a jigsaw with a fine blade or my table saw to cut my foam. I also use Gorilla glue and decking screws to hold everything together for a stronger hold. I made tomb stones last year and used a chain to add indents for highlights when I painted them. Will have to give this one a wing! Thanks!

You are awesome! I was just looking for something like this! I went to the store and saw the cheap popup coffins that are like popup fabric laundry baskets and couldn't bring myself to go there... not for $35!!! I love your creativity and how much you made it resemble wood! Can't wait to try this!
