How To Build a Cheap DIY eBike

Спорт

I built a cheap full carbon fibre electric mountain bike and in this video I show you how! Link to Build and parts: bit.ly/3OMuaEg
Chinese Carbon Frame, Dengfu E10
Bafang M510 Motor
840Wh Battery
Geometry:
Size: XL
Head Angle: 64.5 Degrees
Reach: 510mm
Chain Stay 459mm
BB Height: 356mm
Could use offset bushings to reduce the BB height and make it slacker if needed!

This new M510 motor is really strong! Looking forward to sharing the next video! ps - this is a new frame, not the same one I did before. DENGFU revised the frame slightly (new charging port location and new battery cover that is quick release. Looks similar as they painted it THE EXACT same colours from my last video! Also, motor is the 2022 Bafang M510).

Thats 23.98kg with a 840wh battery!! That is lighter than my old carbon trek Powerfly which only had a 500wh battery. You might be able to put a smaller 400wh battery and get down to a sub 20kg bike with a few other mods.

Nice. You don't even need a headset bearing press. If you freeze the bearing cups. And use a gentle amount of heat from a heat gun or hair dryer on the frame. Then the differing thermal expansion rates let the bearing cups slip right into the frame. I did it exactly like that on my dengfu e22 (basically an e10 with a bigger motor).

Best Part About this Bike is the quality choice of real mountain bike parts and components. Not only that but you smartly choose high quality parts at good prices. Most pre-built Bafang Powered bikes out there are running a junk spec on drivetrain, brakes, wheels and tires. Well Done, I would love to see follow up reviewing this motor vs. other Bafang Motors like the BBSHD, Bafang Ultra, etc.

The frame's pretty tight and it doesn't look like it can withstand a 150mm travel on the rear because of the linkage. You might crash that rear linkage into your main frame if you use too much travel.

What is the best source of information about the fast bikes you mention? I love my turbo levo, but building my own that is faster sounds like a great fun project!

@@tptrsn If you want to build something faster and more cost effective than what Rob built, check out JohnnyNerdout's channel. He builds Bafang BBSHD 29'ers. If you want to explore the margin of what the BBSHD can do with aftermarket controller, check out High Votage's channel. Or...you can follow Rob's blueprint if dual suspension and lower power motor suits your fancy of course.

@@lukewalker1051 Thank you so much! I will check out ALL of those things! I do love hitting some bike park jumps, but I also would love to play with something even more zippy. Seems like a lot of fun to be had with this stuff, and I've built a China sourced carbon hardtail before that was a really fun project. This seems like a "logical" next step. Lol

@@tptrsn If you want a quicker motor than Rob has used here, the Bafang M600 fits and has more power and top speed I have this frame and motor combo and it's great, it's hit 49kph so far 🙂

Hi Rob. Have you tested this frame and motor yet and when would you expect to be posting a video on it?

Is there a model number on that display? I'd love to see if it pairs with a BBS02/HD. As long as it has a Julet green we should be good, but a model number would help pinpoint it.

How does this frame hold up on gnarly trails though? Stiffness, durability, etc.
