How to Build a Bookcase by Jon Peters

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I get started building this small bookcase, which is a great woodworking project that follows a classic and pretty basic design. I use Quarter Sawn White Oak for the legs, top and small bead molding at the bottom of the bookcase, and will give that a natural finish. The rest of the cabinet will be painted white. Here’s Part 1 of the series where I build the base of the cabinet.

If I had to chose to keep just 1 Chanel about woodworking then Jon Peters' would be a no brainer. Simply the best I know. Hopefully you will keep rewarding us with more excellence knowing you are leaving a heritage of people with improved skills and know-how behind and in the process which I hope it is in itself rewarding to you too! Thanks a lot once again. And yes I will repeat what countryboyx007 said: you make it look so easy!

Hi John, tomorrow is Friday ;-) no I'm joking. I very very like your design for this Bookcase and it comes to the right time. We move in the next time and we decided to build most of our furniture for the new house by use self. So this Bookcase is for sure one of the builds and I try to stay on this design to build the rest of the furniture in the same way so we have a nice living room. Hi five from France Tim and Sahra

First of all, THANK YOU for sharing your experience and craftsmanship with the world. Incredible to have teachers available in the comfort of a living room. Second, I noticed you and a few other cabinet makers who enjoy making custom molding for trim use the beading bit. Curious what size beading bit you used here? I've got a 3/8", though it seems a little big. Thank you again!
