Very impressive workmanship! Well done. Was also amazed at the tenacity with which you tackled the heavey task of removing those two old posts.

Farm jack and a tow chain. Gives you about a 50% chance of getting the post out of the ground without it snapping off first.

My guess would be at least as long as the ones I replaced, which were there for about 20 years.

You put the gates on upside down. The 45° brace should have been at the top, next to the hinge. Pulling is stronger than pushing. The bottom of that brace should have in the center. To pull it up. The way you have it pushing the top into the bottom buy hinge. Wheels will help, but not as strong. What are you going to do to protect post from the weather. Even if post is rot-treated it will not last, concrete should have rounded off to run the water off, you left flat, so it stays wetter longer.

Thanks for watching! Most of the weight that will stress the hinges is furthest away from the hinges, near the center of the opening. This is why I triangulated each gate from the "heaviest" side back to the bottom hinge corner. If I ran the diagonals in the opposite direction (like you recommended) there would be nothing supporting the heavy end of the gate; it seems like tying the bottom corner back to the top hinge would actually contribute to pulling the gate further down over time. Regardless, the sprung wheels should take half the weight off the hinges.

In this gate design the drop is always to the hinge!
