How to Break in a New Baseball Glove

Спорт

Thanks to Rico Gloves www.RicoGloves.com for providing this glove for the video on how to break in a new baseball glove. Do you have a new baseball glove that you are looking to break in? Here is a video on a few techniques on how to break in a new baseball glove. Although this video shows a few ways to break in a new baseball glove, my favorite way is to just play catch, condition the leather with vasoline, and just take care of the glove! Don't forget to check out my website at www.maddenbaseball.com Thanks!

Find a cobbler or shoe repair shop in your area. Go there, ask for a bottle of Neatsfoot Oil. Get an oil paint brush. Dip brush into oil, then "paint" your glove making sure not to let it pool anywhere. Put ball in pocket, wrap tight, leave overnight. Repeat 3 days in a row, than beat the crap out of it/play catch. Repeat process until broken in to desired specs.

Play catch, catch balls in the batting cage, put a small amount of vasoline on your glove every once in a while, and use the "two in the pinky" approach when wearing your glove.

When you first get the glove play catch don't close the glove just let it hit the palm and web and bounce out. The reason you do that is so it stretches the foams and leather then take your glove mallet and hit the break points that's the best natural way to break it in

  • @brettline07

when i bought my wilson A2000 the guys at the store used a mizuno steamer, it has seemed to work pretty well. i also have just used the nakona glove grease and beat the hell out of it with the mallet, i have a great pocket and the glove feels amazing. if i were to ever buy another glove i wouldn't mind trying that method with the glove heat and oven.

I do it the old old fashion way and works great. First day I get I just play a lot of toss, establishing a pocket and break points then conditioning it with Nokana and wrap it with rubber bands, shoe laces, glove wrap, or a belt and have a ball in the pocket. Due this everyday and it will be game ready in around 1 month. :)
