I’ll be 57 this month, and I’ve been doing the same for about a year and a half. If I’d been doing this years ago I’d have been on a different level. My handicap dropped from about 18.5 to 15.8, with some improved ball striking too (I’m currently at 16.5). Recently I scored 39 for 9 holes, par 36, even with missing a 3-foot birdie putt. At the end of the round I felt a bit deflated, because I didn’t think I’d played exceptionally well, I had just avoided mistakes. Actually, I’ve come to the conclusion that if I don’t make a mistake on a hole, I get a par.

Just came across one of your instructional videos on the range. Recognized the location. Played here a few weeks ago. It was my first game since high school. (Over 25 yrs ago) Really enjoyed the course. Very well maintained. Will be coming back to try to break 90. Pace of play there is a bit intimidating on the weekend for a high handicapper like me though. Subscribed and enjoyed the video.

Thanks, I kept grinding in this video. It proves the old saying "there are no pictures on scorecards"!! Cause there were some ugly shots and some really good shots. Make sure you watch some of my rounds from my trip to Scotland and Ireland. Some good golf, some mediocre golf, but a lot of great golf holes and scenery!!

No Michael, you’re not just like all of us. My job is not teaching golf 7 days a week…😂😂 Thanks for the tips - I’ve just liked and subscribed. I live in Holland, Europe, where a lot of courses (including mine) have plenty of water. Our 10th hole (or 1st, depending on which of the 27 holes you play) is a par 4 with a green protected by water front, back and right. In winter especially it’s always a dilemma for the 2nd shot whether to go for the green with a 5 or 6 iron or take one club less and play safe to the left. The safe option usually costs a stroke and par.

I’ll certainly be checking them out. I could really relate to this one, as I only realised about 18 months ago that I don’t have to hit world class shots to make par - in fact it’s better to avoid trying. Your planned trip to Scotland and Ireland interests me too, especially as I’ll be going on a golfing trip to Dublin in September.

Natural reaction to a bad golf shot!!!

To hell with besting 80. Shining at the local Fat-Shot Tourney matters more than chasing something that ain't gonna happen. Crispy shots with a proper stroke incur a penalty; moving the ball requires what comes natural -- hitting the ball fat, laying sod over the ball. It is difficult to embrace one's personal ineptitude but to win at shi^^y golf that's what is demanded.
