How was the pigeon?

Ah man wish I saw this when I was raising a little orphan baby pigeon. I resorted to using my bare hand and that fed her. Was very messy. Also we didn't have proper feed and I had to make my own. This is very nice to know, thanks for sharing. I wish more people appreciated these birds. They are more intelligent than people realize. My girl I raised comes back to my balcony almost every blizzard. She brought back a mate this last season =)

@@country9825 wet cat food watered down for when they have mostly yellow feathers. Used a wide oral syringe to give it to them. Then when they were older I used wild birdseed mixed with chop/cat food (chop was whatever veggies I had on hand. Normally spinach/cabbage/carrot/whatever) Wild pigeons get worse lol. The only thing that makes things difficult is if they are just hatchlings. Like for 4 days to a week after hatching they get pigeons "milk" from parents. I am not sure how to supplement that.

@@ediebritt111 they do get it really dirty even after cleaning at least personally mine do and from others I’ve seen as well, especially more with bigger flocks of pigeons and when they have babies they just poop everywhere and make a mess making the cage dirty faster

@@pretzelz.22 I've been a pigeon owner and that cage is disgusting. The cage needs to be lots cleaner, especially when you have squeakers. I feel sorry for your birds.

@@ediebritt111 yes there cage does need a clean but you don’t need to be criticizing and when we have new babies we clean daily and they still get the cage dirty it’s just what’s natural, animals will do that there not humans who can keep it 100% clean 24/7

Found a bird (initially thought robin, later found out pigeon baby)... it was so cold in the rainy floor..... It helped BEST if they are placed in a DARK room (ideally on a tray with fluffy soft old cotton cloths to keep them warm + a small plastic BOTTLE filled with WARM WATER and wrapped in cloth so they can snuggle up near its warmth) they fall asleep within 10-15 mins & can safely recover for 1 day and then regular day cycle, in a quite corner (like store room). Also ideal to feed them CERELAC liquid food with a 1-2 mm piercing in a glove/baloon streched onto a plastic bottle, then they open mouth & EASILY EAT AS MUCH AS THEY NEED (usually 5-10 ml in one go).... This method is working like a charm! i found an abandoned baby pigeon yesterday and tried to syringe feed him like i do with my baby conure, but he was not eating and i was so scared force opening his tender beak! Today i made the formula 1 bird food for him in a bottle and covered the mouth with a pierced glove, he started eating and im so happy now😍

I wish youtube had suggested this video earlier...but somehow though with great difficulties I managed to care for a baby...I just wonder how it survived...it ate very less...after 3-4 days it started to eat on its own.

Can you help me please. I’m my father owns a bunch of pigeons and once in a while they completely abandon new borns before they even have a chance to feed them. I will do everything I can to try and get them to parent them but if it fails then I will take care of them as much as I can. I usually take care of 3 or four day olds with absolutely no problem but the new borns hatching are very tough and I don’t know what to feed them to substitute pigeon crop milk. I need a recipe or something that is a very reliable product. I used kaytee but they grew very very slowly and they still passed even though I followed the directions to the T. Can you please help me.

I was wondering how to make a "pigeon milk" replacement formula stuff I found a few recipes on the internet here's an example 1. Pour 1.25 measuring cups of dry oat meal in an empty cup 2. Add one cup of shaken Silk unsweetened organic soy milk that has been microwaved for 30 seconds to the cup 3. Mix them well together with a spoon 4. Add the contents of two large whole eggs and mix very well. 5. Mix well with a spoon until homogeneous I tried this recipe I don't know if it's safe for him before I feed it to him any thoughts on a recipe will help thanks!
