The first point about creating special content just goes against everything that I believe. Tattooing has dumbed down and when you look at the type of work that gets shown as being unique it’s not very challenging art wise.

Targeted ads in your area, and mass adding in your area works well. And from there just do good art work and people will come to you.

i can imagine this to be pretty helpful for beginner artists! :) just one litte critique: the music was a bit to loud and kinda distracted me from the conversation at some points.

Unless you have merchandise its pointless as an INDIVIDUAL tattooer to care about having even 25000 followers especially if youre a niche artist, because you couldnt tattoo that many people over a 20 year career. Ive been tattooing 20 years..10 years in a street shop doing 5 off the wall tattoos a day(definitely not niche) 5 days a week never taking a vacation and assuming you never tattoo the same person twice amounts to 13,000 clients. 26,000 clients in 20 years at that pace..Basically impossible. If you stay in one area, one shop just doing good tattoos you will build up a great clientele..within a year. Im not saying instagram cant make your indivdual business better but I have a measly 850 followers and I have to deal with tire kickers(people who are just price shopping and just people who arent serious,,and dont care about the quality of my work) on the regular. I cant imagine having even 5000 people in my local area..I wouldnt even be able to get through the nonsense to help people who are serious..,It just seems that people want 25000 followers so they can say" look at me,,Im so popular.. " Id rather put my time into just being good.

This is such a helpful insight. It’s easy to get bogged down about your lack of followers and interaction, the industry is saturated with artists with 30k+ followers that you look up to and naturally you want the same to validate your work. But you’re right, the reality is more about your local clientele and having a small amount of followers who actually appreciate you rather than big numbers on a screen.

Weird take.. The more followers you have, the more people reaching out for work, the more selective you’re able to be with your tattoos. I’m only at 7k followers and I accept about 50% of the requests that come in based on whether or not I want to take on the project, so I’m only doing stuff I enjoy.

Buying fakes don't increase your reach? Really? Pfft... Organic growth helps for real clientwise, but them fake bots and clickers do increase your reach like a mf... It's not just about ego, it's about the damn algorithm "thinking" you're relevant. lol
