Wonderful tutorial video! Quick question: what kind of brush was used in this video? Do you have brush recommendations?

Thank you. In the video the brush was a simply Simmons taklon flat. Any brush will do however. You can use round, flat or filbert. Intend to reach for the filberts or flats for larger areas. That’s just my preference. As for as recommendations. I prefer about a medium stiffness. Not as soft as watercolor but not as stiff as oils and I like the taklons the best. Give a couple a try and see which ones you prefer to use.

I have questions. How do u dispose of the napkin you use? I read about soaked rags catching fire n not being good for the environment if not disposed right... So will disposable be the same? I just wanna make sure I do everything right. Also do u rinse your brushes in water after use or do you just wait for them to dry to clean them because the oderless mineral spirits clean them already?

What great questions. When using OMS with colored pencils I usually just throw away as usual. There isn’t very much on the paper towel and I never throw away the paper towel until the next day when it is dry. Is it the most environmentally safe thing to do? Probably not but you can use the alternative method I use for oils if you want to be completely safe. Now when I use rags for oil painting these things get soaked. So when I am done using them I place them in a jar with water in it. This helps them from combusting and then take to an appropriate local center that disposes of paint and chemicals. Sometimes these places are difficult to find depending upon the area you live so you may have to do a bit of research for this one. As far as brush care I do not typically rinse my brush after I use oms. It is mean to clean brushes from oils so it really isn’t necessary. However, I do use some conditioning soap (masters brush cleaner) every once in a while for them just to keep them from drying out and ensuring all my pigment is out of the brush. How often depends upon how much I use them. Usually every 5-10 projects. I know seems like a wide range but again depends upon the project and how much it gets used etc. this step is not necessary but something I like to do. Now if using oils I use the conditioning soap after each project is completed or if I am not going to be working on the project for an extended time. Just use oms while working on the project though. @@Artista365 thank you for answering. I don't plan on using them with oils, just colored pencils, but I most def will keep this all in mind when I start using it. and most def will look up the safety disposal for my city
