This is a great video! I am in the process of bleeding my new clutch master and slave, its taking foreeever. i follow these steps to the T from different videos and it seems like theres no bubbles coming out but the pedal still feels pretty squishy and it doesnt want to go into gear. i feel like im missing something .--.

Glad to hear it helped you out! If you haven't change the clutch for the past 3 or 5 years, then its not a bad idea to to do it. In that way, you will prevent any future problems. Also, make sure to check the clutch master cylinder and the slave cylinder for any leakage. 😀

@@user-to7fz5sn3w Durability of the clutch depends on how you use it or how frequent you use your vehicle. You have maintained your vehicle well. Mine lasted for 22 years before it was replaced.

Probably, the problem would be the speed sensor if the speedometer is not working. Check the connection and make sure it is clean and secured. I will create a video about that soon. Thank you very much too for watching!

VERY NICE VIDEO! i have a question, what size is that clear hose??? My brake bleeder is 10 mm and i have a tube for that, but when i try the clutch bleeding that hose is a little bigger since the clutch like yours is 8mm, SO DO YOU KNOW THE SIZE OF THAT CLEAR TUBE??

Hello, thank you very much for the feedback. The size of the clear tube is 6mm inner diameter, approximately just short of 1/4 inch. Probably you had an aftermarket slave cylinder or the bleeder valve has been swapped out with a different ones before, the reason why it has a different size. Also different vehicles varies.

I was able to remove a lot of trapped air from the line but my clutch pedal is still stuck on the ground and the slave cylinder won't open when I push down on the clutch pedal. I did notice some fluid leaking into the cabin where the master cylinder is located. Could this be reason for it not opening?

Yes. A leaking master cylinder is a sign of worn out or busted seal. Since it is leaking, it will no longer be able to create a pressure that can push the slave cylinder and the clutch system. Replace it with a new assembly to get the job done. Also, don't forget to check your slave cylinder for leaks. If it has leaks, replace it too.

What if it feels firm once bleeded, then when you turn on the car it feels softer. Turn off car, it feels better. Am I missing something or do I still have air in the system? Thanks.

Try to double check everything sir. It is possible that there is air trapped in the system. Bleeding it again might help fix the problem. Check for leaks too. Make sure that the master and slave cylinder are in good condition.

My clutch pedal on my Honda Civic is stuck down no pressure😩 no leaks either🤷‍♂️ I am going to change slave cylinder

If bleeding didn't work, then check carefully which part has a leak. This can be tricky sometimes since there are cases where both parts had no leaks but one is already broken. If you were to change the slave cylinder, then I would recommend to replace the master cylinder too since these work in pairs.

For some reason my fluid was not coming out - even after I took the entire bleeder out. However, I noticed that I tried to bleed with the cap off - will the cap being off make a difference? Otherwise I must have a blockage somewhere. However, the clutch works well and car drives ok - I just wanted to replace with fresh fluid. Any help is greatly appreciated

Hello sir! I just want to clarify if you are referring to the master cylinder cap? If yes, then bleeding it with the cap off doesn't make any difference with the cap on. It is commonly done with the cap on to prevent any dirt and debris get into the new fluid in the reservoir while bleeding. You can bleed it with the cap off, just make sure that the surroundings of the reservoir is clean. You mentioned that the fluid doesn't come out when you bleed it. It could be a clogged up bleeder valve or perhaps some dirt are clogging the lines which can come from a deteriorated hose line. A clogged up bleeder valve can be temporarily fixed by removing it and use a needle to poke the hole to remove the dirt inside. You can use wire brush to clean the ends of the bleeder valve. If possible, replace it with a new one since the old bleeder valve will once clogged up due to its deteriorated or corroded condition.

@@DraftProject thanks for the reply 👍. The bleeder is not clogged, must be an issue in the line then I guess. I have watched another video of a guy with an integra who also has no fluid coming out initially, but he pressed the pedal with the bleeder loose and eventually fluid came out. I'm reluctant to take this route bcz it will introduce air into the system. However, the clutch system is not as complicated as the brake system, so maybe I can get away with opening the bleeder valve and just pumping the clutch pedal until there is some movement in the fluid, despite some air being introduced into the system? What are your thoughts?

Sorry for the late response, well for me, it's not a bad idea to try that method. There could be an air trapped in the middle of the line the reason why it couldn't come out. Just make sure you use a bottle with brake fluid, half of the container and use a clear tube to connect the bleeder valve to the fluid in the bottle. Loosen it and pump it until the fluid comes out. Make sure to submerge the clear tube in to the fluid to prevent any air sucking into the system by the time you release clutch pedal. Just repeat the process and when the fluid comes out, tighten the bleeder valve and start the standard process of bleeding the clutch. Extra tip: Also, check the master cylinder and slave cylinder for leaks. Check underneath the dashboard where the pedal connects to the master cylinder, that is where you will find it leaking if ever it was broken. Leaks could reduce the pressure inside, depending on how worse the damage could be. That is also a sign that it needs a replacement too.

If you press the clutch and it just locks, it indicates that there is an air in the system. If you tried bleeding and nothing happens or it won't improve the situation no matter how much you try, then it could indicate that the clutch master cylinder is broken or perhaps the clutch slave cylinder. Most of the time, they leak when they are broken. Yet there also times that there are no leaks too. You will know it is broken when bleeding won't work anymore.

After bleeding I have a nice hard pedal but after driving for a while it gets soft again. There are no leaks anymore though. Could it be a bad master cylinder?

Hi sir! I suggest you to try to bleed it again perhaps there could be an air trapped in the middle or somewhere in the system. Also, double check again if there are leaks in the slave cylinder and the master cylinder. A master cylinder is bad when it is leaking. if it wasn't then it is still in good condition.

But I followed all your steps and my clutch still seems to be spongy after the process and I’ve repeated it multiple times making sure there’s no air at all the only reason it broke was because my previous clutch line got a hole edged into it so after I switched it thinking it would fix the problem… it didn’t. Hi! If the problem still persist after all of these methods, then I would suggest you to check the whole system for any leaks. Check the master cylinder, slave cylinder and the clutch line for any small leaks. Leaks are indication of broken seals and it will not create any pressure to remove the air inside the system. You also said that your clutch line has a hole. I was wondering if the small piece from that hole might have entered the clutch system. If it does, it will destroy the seal. I also have an experience from other people. They were repeating the steps in my video but it doesn't fix the problem. They told me that the whole system doesn't have any leaks, so they tried replacing the clutch master cylinder, and it fixed the problem. From that experience, replacing the parts is the last resort. For now, try to check even the smallest details that you can find before you decide to replace any of those. Also, make sure that your hose fits perfectly on the bleeder valve. Take note that the bleeder valve should not have any leaks. I hope this helps. Thank you. Feel free to respond.

I loosened the bleeder valve and nothing came out?? What did I do wrong, I took out the old fluid topped of the master put the tube on into a bottle with fluid and nothing came out. Also my clutch is to the floor

Hi sir! Just keep on bleeding. It is natural that nothing will come out in the first bleed, especially when the clutch is filled with air in the system. if you bleed and nothing comes out, but the reservoir gradually decreases, then that is a good sign and keep on continuing bleeding. Be sure to follow the steps that I provided in the video. It would be better to have someone to help you pump the clutch so you can monitor the fluid that comes out from the slave cylinder. Also, don't forget to check and maintain the fluid level of the reservoir because if you ran out of fluid while bleeding, it will suck air into the system and you will repeat all over again.

So when you tighten the bleeder valve the pedal should be to floor or back to original position?

It should be pressed on to the floor. After you tightened the bleeder valve, you can now release the clutch pedal. Just remember, when you press the pedal all the way to the floor, you push all the fluid and air out of the system. If you release it, it sucks all of the fluid and air back to the system which is why you should tighten it while the pedal is on the floor in order to remove air and old fluid on the bleeding process.

If it does not stick to the floor, then there is little to no air in the system. If the system has a lot of air, the pedal would stick to the floor right away when depressed.

Yes bro! Brake fluid all the way hehe. The brake and clutch hydraulic system uses the same fluid with a specific DOT rating.

@@DraftProject even on a 93 del sol si. Dot 3 cluch and brake fluid are the same. I should get a big bottle to flush the system right itS empty. Dryed out ....So. If. I have to add some before I flush it. Or since it's Dryed out it should just be added to pressurize flushed for dirt and. Debri since it's Dryed out ...then once it's pressured and the line is clean then just top it off to the line Correct. Me. Love ur video 😍

@@veggaschicks Thank you for adding that. Yes, they are the same fluid. About the flushing you mentioned, yes, it is correct that we empty it first then add some fluid to flush dirt out of the system and eventually top it off. The process for emptying the system can be done by removing the fluid from the reservoir and fill it with new fluid then start flushing. The second one is releasing the bleeder valve and pump the pedal until most of the fluid is gone and dry but this method should be done gently since when there is no fluid on the master cylinder and slave cylinder, it can cause small wear on to the seals during flushing. Still I recommend the first method which is safer and it does the same job for flushing and cleaning the system.
