    After watching so many videos and After 3 days all day of trying different methods on bleeding the breaks I finally did it, I have breaks once again. With new rotors and pads on all four installed and full flush and it's now working better then ever I'm set. I'm glad I don't have to go through this again anytime soon. 👌👇🤘💪

    The pumping and holding down the pedal, and THEN cracking the bleeder screw should have been performed from the start instead of at the 2nd part of the video. That's best practice with 2 people.

    I've recently had to double tap the brakes on my SPI mini to get any decent response out of them. We changed the master cylinder with little effect. When I sealed a leak on my exhaust, the brakes were much firmer on the first press. I believe this was because there was the correct pressure now acting on the servo from the manifold. So not all brake softness can be attributed to air bubbles or master cylinder failure.

  • @Stevestonmotorco

    @Stevestonmotorco

    5 жыл бұрын

    It sounds unlikely that an exhaust leak would affect servo pressure? Interesting. Another thing that would have an effect on pedal feel is rear brake drum adjustment. If the shoes have a large gap before they make contact, they pedal will need to travel further.

    @@Stevestonmotorco I'd already had that discussion with friends. 3 clicks of the ratchet was the rule of thumb. Which I had. Place a block of wood under the pedal then you’ll be sure. The same goes for bench bleeding. The instructions on mine say don’t push in more than 3/4” to 1”. My full travel on my orig is 1.5”.

    I've never understood how you could get all the bubbles out of the rear brakes on a Mini. The bleed valve is at the bottom of the cylinder, but the bubbles are going to be at the top, and they're not going to want to go down to the valve to exit. In my experience, most brakes have the bleed valve at the top to allow the bubbles an easy path out. Having said that, I seem to be able to get a firm pedal on my Mini, so it must work. I just don't know why.

    Hey guys, I've recently bought a classic Mini 30 but I have got a problem with the brake pedal. It sags to a point where the brake light switch engages all the time. Replaced the switch, greased up the master cylinder rods as we're bone dry and there appears to be sufficient fluid in the master cylinder, I suspect it needs bleeding also as the pedal travel is near zero. Anyone got any advice? Need to remove pedal play, improve pedal travel and improve the feel of the brakes. I may also need to adjust the drums as I simply do not know the state of the car due to previous owner having it stood for a long time and not ran

    Hell, you don't have to close the bleeder valve every time with the bottle of fluid and hose connected. You do that when you don't have the hose connected to the bleeder and in a jar of brake fluid because it would have pulled air back into the lines. With what you have there He could have just kept pumping with the breeder open, Just make sure the master cylinder dont go dry before the clear brake fluid comes out.

    Skip the first forty seconds of these nerds trying to be cute..wait ten seconds and then realize that your time is too valuable to watch the rest. Wait five more seconds and then start leaving a comment that takes at least a few minutes. Validate yourself. Feels good? No?
