How to Blade Shear (hand shear) - Merino ewe
This is a video I recorded to help a couple of people I am teaching to blade shear. this is how I blade shear merinos commercially. I know it's not a perfect job it's a shed job. It's also not a particularly tough or wrinkley merino but hopefully it gives a reasonable idea of how to do it.

I tried this, uninstructed, with a not-so-nice pair of shears: I was TERRIFIED. The ram took a snooze in my lap, though. I switched to electric, but it was more important learning proper holds and how to keep the skin stretched flat, no wrinkles
Any tips you could give on how to keep the blades down on the skin but not cut skin. Sort of with machines keep the bottom tooth down. I guess you just gotta do it. Any tips welcome tia

Lead in with the bottom point but push the top blade down flat against the skin to close. I will try to do a video on it in the near future.
