This is a simple how to install a bilge pump on to a jon boat that didn't come with one. I used an 500 gallon per hour (gph) pump and it is wired up to a fused switch. I didn't want to cut a hole in the side of the boat so i can up with a fairly good idea for getting the water out. So far everything is going good.
Bu this kit from one the of the following sites.
500 gpm pump: ebay.us/iS06Pp
800 gpm pump: ebay.us/uyFMSf
1000 gph pump: ebay.us/Q0RkMH

Thanks for making this video. I’m looking for a similar solution because I also don’t want to drill that hole in my hull. Can you let us know where you got those rubber hose clamps? Cheers

I like that you didn't drill through the hull, yeah it might not look as clean but once you put holes in Aluminum it will never quite be the same as factory. Then you're constantly having to go back and repair leaky spots with Silicon junk or some other sealant. I feel you should never put holes in your aluminum boat hull if you don't have to. One consideration I might have is stuff bouncing around in the back of the boat and knocking into your pump, breaking it. If you always drive on smooth roads maybe no issue but I've seen deep cycle marine batteries slide around, gas tanks get knocked around on some bumpy back roads when that trailer starts bouncing. My thing would be to ensure stuff is secured down tightly.

is everything connected to one battery? engine, trolling motor, fish finder, bilge etc. Thinking about upgrading my jon boat, should I have a battery in the back for the engine and another battery up front front for fish finder, trolling motor, and bilge?

i have everything wire to one battery and it can do a full day on a full charge(24 size battery). The trolling motor is wired directly to battery with a 30 amp breaker. All other electronics are wired from the bottom switches. My engine is a hand start so i don't use my battery to start my 9.9 hp engine. I just put most of the weight in back to help with the speed of the boat as it's travels. i can hit about 17 mph with two people on board.

I also only have a 3 switch penal with a USB port so I can only turn the pump on when I turn my stern lights on because I ran out of switches and i have still yet to hook up my amp and Bluetooth receiver so I'm gonna have to figure that one out too. My advise is to get more switches than you think you'll need
