    I'm at the end of year one of running Fantastic Balls! My biggest three tips are A. Don't quit your day job, you need the funding and breeding takes time. B. Take your time, there's no reason to rush and nature goes at it's own pace. Basically don't count your snakes before they hatch. C. Be prepared to put in an infinite amount of sweat equity. Bonus tip: Breed your own rodents. You will only lose money by purchasing them elsewhere.

    i dont have to get liter for my snake so more money for me and my project. in Canada Quebec we are surrounded by water. it very humid here .A big water bowl is enough ;) i also suggest that you NEED to breed you own rodent don't matter what it is(your ball will eat whatever if hungry ) pick a rodent that YOU like to work with and don't mind to have in your appartement/house. you will save so MUCH money that way !

    Thanks for this video :) I'm gonna be getting another corn snake after losing my very first snake recently. Ended up here somehow, but I like the frankness and the wide range of topics you cover. So often "how to" videos start at the assumption of you've already decided yes - but it's so important to know what goes into this BEFORE affirmative decision. :)

    I really appreciate that. If I had it my way I would breed so many different kinds of animals since I love them so much. But it's really important to decide if you can or really want to put in the work that they need once you know everything that goes into it.

    Unfortunately we can't find it anymore as it seems to have been deleted from Morphmarket, but we used the code in the bottom left to find it's clutch, so we can say that the pairing was Pompeii x Enchi Clown and we believe this to be Pompeii itself.

    That must not have been fun at all. It's true every animal can do something unexpected catching us off guard. Maybe she saw the heat source and did it out of habit of feeding response. I actually had my cat who is a sweetheart scratch the heck out of my hand a week ago out of no where. I think I suprised him but either way sometimes they just don't behave the way they normally do.

    You certainly don't have to start a business to breed on the side. Just have a plan for the incubation and for the babies once they are here. This could include selling to other breeders or selling at 1 or 2 shows and keeping ones you like. But if you put a male with one female you don't need to worry as you will only have them in there for 1 to usually a max of 3 days. Just be sure those females are indeed female and you would know if you have 2 males together as they would start slamming their bodies around at each other fairly quickly upon being introduced usually.

    i'm 13 so i have nowhere near a thousand dollars... but i have a pet ball python, and she is my best friend, and i have been wanting to start breeding snakes since i was seven. i just got my first ball python in december, 2023. she is four months old, and she is WAAYYYY too young and small to breed, and my mom finally agreed to let me start breeding ball pythons in 2024!!! my plan is to buy an ADULT male and female, since i already have a young female. then, i will breed to two adults, and just hope it works out? does this sound like it might be an o.k. plan, or if not, what would be a better idea? btw, i love this video, super helpful!

    Thank you so much for watching! It's exciting to hear people getting excited and developing a passion around these amazing animals much earlier in life. As far as breeding you don't need thousands or dollars to breed. This is more a focus on the investment side of ball pythons. What you do need is to make sure you do your research and have a plan regardless. Most breeders will look to combine genetics but this doesn't have to be you. Just make sure you have an enclosure for each animal you breed and will hatch. You do not want to leave a male and female together forever in my opinion. You will pair them up and once they are done take the male and put him back in his own enclosure. Eventually learning how the genetics interact with each other and create combos is going to be necessary as a ball python breeder specifically so if you are going to breed them why not go for at least simple yet popular combos anyways. But this is entirely up to you. Just remember you will be starting a process to bring more life into our world that will rely entirely on you. This is such a fun responsibility but it is a responsibility that we owe to the animals we choose to breed and whether they are worth $20 or $10000 to the snakes this means nothing of course. You will need to prepare to incubate them and house them once they arrive. You will then need to feed them. You should have this plan in place before you begin pairing them to be safe in my opinion. After they hatch, you can choose to keep them or sell them after but remember genetics heavily affects price with ball pythons. Just remember to have fun and always keep learning :)

    Which snake do you think i should buy to start breeding in nyc

  • @RhynosRoyals

    @RhynosRoyals

    Sadly I would check into the law in NYC. It is one of the only places in the continental US that has somehow banned ALL pythons including the harmless ball python and most snakes for that matter to my knowledge. Whether it is actually enforced I could not really say. If you are just near the city however I would highly recommend using morph market or going to local reptile expos & shows. and research what projects you would like to work and come up with a budget you are comfortable investing.

    Hopefully if you're hoping to get started in 2023 you already have plenty of rare young ones growing up in the back. Start out by buying rare baby females every now and again, learn to care for them. Then get a nice het sire, and when he's ready get 5 inexpensive recessive adult females that can make 3k babies with him.. makes sure a few are 2000 g plus and have history of 10 egg clutches. When they arrive, set up a small ray colony. Snakes first with a diy rack and incubator, then sell babies to buy a real rack. That's the first step, and that alone won't take you too far... That step itself is an easy 5-7 grand before the racks. Quite a pay wall, and I hope you have a house. You go in and keep going during the initiation or you might be screwed, then maybe one day when it's a business you can balance spending and profits, until then it's an "expensive addiction." Another way of saying... high pay wall. Still nothing more than an expensive addiction when you spend big on the wrong stuff! There's a video of a budget business model growing up 5 pied hatchling girls and pairing a nice male pied to them. If I would've listened I would be done for. Start as hobby with buying a really nice baby female every year.. costs less than your crappy cable service, newest iphone with Verizon, Fortnite skins, guitar collection, etc. Cut that all out and treat yourself to something beautiful that can make money, and enjoy your $50 spectrum service and KZread. You think you're gonna do this with like 3 grand? Just stay away.. more like 10 just to start, hard truth. It's about passion for the animal and for genetics... If it makes you 10k a year and covers your rent then perfect. If you got big money and load up on 30 grand of snakes and racks and think you're gonna have a profitable business, you'll jump. Passion project that might cover your rent should be your goal. And I wouldn't put all your eggs in one basket, because once there's an Irish potato famine, you're out. This your full time job? What else you breeding? Dogs? Tegus? Flowerhorns? Go check out all the 4k collections for sale that have zero substance, all over the place. I hope when investing you have the brain of a med student... Go buy 5 adult pied girls for a grand each, and then a male... 6 grand flushed. That's still a better model than half these collections I see for sale. It's gonna be a hyper competitive late game.

    If you want to keep growing you are right that you will need to reinvest your earnings quite often so "profit" usually isn't a thing in most cases right off the bat. I like to say that they pay for themselves to grow the business side of things.
