This is why I’ll always stand by books. I love the fact that I can garner knowledge in life from individuals dating back hundreds of years and employ them today.

Sir, please make a video on how to stay positive when you cannot get away from harmful, non-constructive criticism. Some people that I cannot avoid are extremely belittling towards me. They always demean me whenever they get the chance and mock the decisions I’ve made in my life, my choices, my habits, things I enjoy, etc. I’ve tried setting boundaries and confrontation but unfortunately they do not care and I’m seeing that it’s wasting my time and energy as I get really upset. I’ve realised that it’s taking a toll on my ability to concentrate because I constantly get anxious thoughts about whether I’m doing something right, do I look weird, am I acting weird, etc. I’ve started reading some books on psychology and healing myself, and I write about my feelings in a diary while reading my psychology books. I compare my experiences and the books side by side and it helps me understand myself and these people I’m talking about in a better way. This has been really helping me and providing a lot of relief to me. I am about to gear up for a very important exam in my life and I know that I need to concentrate and be productive in order to make it through. I know that I can do it, but after speaking to these people I become very self-conscious and I doubt my self worth, which then leads to me procrastinating out of fear of failure, which delays and wastes my time, and then the self-fulfilling prophecy of my anxious thoughts gets fulfilled because I’m not able to give my 100% in the projects. Whenever this cycle happens in the past, the score that I get is okay, but I think, it could’ve been way better, and I could’ve enjoyed that journey of learning in a happier, relaxed way. If you have any tips that can help me and give me some strength then I would really appreciate it. As I said, the journaling with the books side-by-side has been such a game-changer for me that I cannot express it enough. It has taken my pain - in a scale of 1 being painless and 10 being extremely upset - from a 10 to a 4. Is there anything similar that I can do to build a strong, powerful mindset which won’t be deterred by such inevitable and unavoidable criticism? I saw the short that you posted about the giraffe and turtle example and I’ve been recalling it whenever I get too upset or angry, and it helps calm me down. But my preparation for my exam is about to come soon, and I cannot afford to become so regularly upset by these people, because they never change and it wastes my time. What should I do?

People in your life who very clearly do not want the better for you should be left behind. You do not owe them your attention. You need to value yourself and your time more by not associating with such people.
