    I'd say power query and power pivot in Excel are also important. The number of people who have never used or even heard of them when they're using Excel 8 hours a day just blows my mind 🤯

    Hi there! I'd say it depends on what your goals are! If you want to start learning technical skills and get a stepping stone position/internship soon, I would join! If you won't be doing those things for a bit longer, I would wait to join until then. Hope this helps :)

    Most actuarial positions will require a Bachelor's degree at the minimum from what I'm aware of.

You can find recommend study materials for Exam P and FM below. etchedactuarial.com/best-study-manual-for-exam-p/ etchedactuarial.com/best_exam_fm_study_guide/ Please note that SOA/CAS exams are required for becoming an actuary in Canada and the US. But if you want to work as an actuary elsewhere, there might be other pathways to take so be sure to check the local requirements before getting started.

    Hi 👋 Recent accounting grad here. Not sold on the high cost of taking and studying materials for CPA. Also afraid that CPA won’t allow the lifestyle I desire - less about money and more about what I do outside of work. Still want to have a career so I looked at Internal audit and CMA but there is no guarantee I can get a job that is relevant as per the requirements to take the exam without getting a masters in my job market 😭. Took a look at your videos and I’m sold on actuary. Took a look at the syllabus for SOA exams and pathways and I like that I can go at my own pace. Any tips? Is it common for someone with an accounting, finance, or economics degree to choose this path?

    If I pass some exams (for example 3) and fail the next one (exam 4) , then would i have to give all exams from the start or give the exam that I failed ?

    That's dependent on the company that you work with, but you can expect increases in salary based on experience and by passing exams.     Hi Thalia! You don't need to take a course before taking the exams, but you'll probably want to get started on your Bachelor's degree first (if you haven't yet)! :) That way, you can apply some of the math skills you learn when you're studying for the exams.

    Hello Ma'am! I'm from India and have just passed high school and entered college. Do you think the Community will be of any help to me? I mean cause I'm gonna take my actuarial exams from either IAI or IFOA but you'll be guiding for SOA or CAS. So, what do you say, will I be able to derive any benefit from it?     Yes! The Community has lots of resources that are not exam-specific including technical skills training, insurance concepts and guidance for job search. You will learn how to develop all the skills and experience that will make you a top candidate for actuarial positions once you graduate.

    That's a hard question to answer. It depends on a lot of different factors like the courses offered, whether there are internship or co-op programs, if there's support for job search, and your personal circumstances. Definitely get more information from the institutions and speak with your family to help you make the decision.

    Besides getting a Master's degree, there are lots of other things you can do to be a more competitive candidate!     @@EtchedActuarial PG means Post Graduate UG means Under Graduate... UG course are studied after we complete 12 th class whereas PG course are studied after we completing UG course... Now my question is mam " Shall we study acturiay degree after the UG Or 12th class? "

    Hi! :) Great question! When you get your first job, you actually haven't received all the training you'll need to become an actuary. You're an "actuarial student" as a lot of employers call it! So, employers expect you to keep taking exams and getting credentials to become a fully qualified actuary.
