As a teenager whose dream is to make it into the industry as a designer, your videos amongst others have been very helpful on my journey. Congratulations on your magazine by the way, and I wish you more success in the near future. Thank you for your content, they are so detailed and well researched, it is clear that you know exactly what you are talking about.

Im a business person in another industry and I can say that this is extremely sound advice, both specifically for fashion and for business in general. Making sure you are profitable, building industry relationships and taking care of your customers are absolutely critical. Love this series! Also thanks for leaving in the drilling reaction, I cackled 🤣

Thank you for this! It would be amazing if you could start a series where you interview some new designers in London that you rate. I think you could tie the interviews with future articles in your magazine. Could you start a waiting list for your magazine? If you add a form to fill in email, you could simultaneously generate an mailing list for a newsletter :)

I’d love to hear more about the connection between fashion design and graphic design. Growing up I thought I wanted to be a fashion designer and would do extensive research on fashion designers but I realized that it’s the concepts on how these fashion designers use their clothing to communicate messages using visual arts to create a sort of tone of voice.

Or if you know of any books/forums or influencers that are focused on the graphic design aspects of the fashion industry or the connections about them that you can share about

I love this series! For part 3, can you discuss the creative process? To set your fashion brand up for success, is it better to work on the logistics/business side OR the creative/artistic side first? For example, figuring out the why/who of your brand before designing the collection OR creating a collection and basing your brand off of that? For me personally, I struggle a lot with the foundation. I have so many passions and mantras that I live by. It’s hard to pick 1-2 to base an entire fashion brand around. I think the most successful fashion brands stick to one, specific theme. Choosing that theme is extremely hard for me.. it’s frustrating. Any tips/advice? xx (Sorry for the long comment)

I want to add that a successful brand should have a great relationship with ALL of their vendors! This is so crucial! (Edit) So true about building a relationship with the factory!!! I get clients that just plainly said to find new factories... They aren't aware of how production is. We just say no, it's not in our best interest to do so. Unless is a product any of my factories can't do, then I consider a new factory.

Thank you for this rather comprehensive set of advices. They may seem obvious but as you actually start your own business it must be really hard to remember and manage them all simultaneously. It's also a valuable video for those who live in "developing" countries and idealize "first world" countries. There is scam EVERYWHERE. Was, is and always gonna be. In fact, there's more scam than ever before (i'm old enough to remember pre-internet and pre-cellular times).

I am always wary about things like "How to become a successful .... ", because if it really works, why aren't you already a successful so and so ?
