Just passing UGC NET or SET makes you elegible on paper only. In practice unless you have research paper publication, PhD and teaching experience you wont make it to good college or university. I have done my MBA in 2010 and cleared my NET in 2019. Because of my ongoing job as Banker I have not been able to do my Phd or publish papers hence fail to get past because of these shortcomings

Its just an exam, you can give it immediately after Masters too. Depends on how many attempt you take to clear it.

No it’s not compulsory, you can do PhD without clearing net. You have to give an entrance exam, also I have known and seen places hire without NET.

@@tanishqua9 Same. Not that I am unemployed as I was already working & simultaneously studying. But this education did not make any difference and I am that guy who even posted his MBA achievement on Linkedin with distinction. Long story short, its all your contacts and connections with right people that will land you at good place. This is the final conclusion and I won't agree otherwise. Even tho you belong to Top B-Schools, it helps initially but throughout the journey, the spark fades away and your real life professional connections play a pivotal role for everything.
