As someone who has worked as QA tester at AAA studio, I can say a lot has changed in QA from when this video was filmed and uploaded to now. Game testing was about "Breaking the game" and Now it is as similar to "Game as a software" testing with different testing techniques/principles. Whatever he has mentioned in this video is just referring to "Play Testing" which happens ones Unit & Integration testing is done. But yes a good video for someone who wants to enter the industry, would love to see an updated or a 2022 view point on this.

Yes, sometimes some people don't see a pretty important issue, because they are used to do that mission/area, that is why teams usually change their testing area so a fresh eye can have a look at it from time to time. You need to do some pretty bad stuff to get fired, but as bug reporting goes, each part of the game is checked by a lot of people, so you should not worry :)

Hating for nothing, never heard of an Ubisoft game to break for everyone on launch. If you had a problem, it's most likely a local one, depending on the software or hardware you have. Contact the Ubisoft forums with your problem, or just look on the existing threads, you might find a solution.

If he wants a career in the gaming industry, he should have been the one to write here ;) Nevertheless, it's not necessary to show me his skills, I encourage him to go online on any job-platform to search for a position as tester in the gaming industry close to his home. I would recommend to see where is the closest gaming studio of any company, and try wither to commute there or to move as close as possible to that studio. Yes, I believe anyone can get become a game tester, you need English skills (for those in non-English spiking countries), basic logic and common sense, to be a team-player/social, and love games :) When you say competitive, does that mean tournaments, professional gaming league, championships like in the big stuff? @@AntiCx_edits I'm not sure how, for me it was simple, just made a CV, as nice as I coud, an intention letter (not sure if it's a standard everywhere), I got called in for an interview and test, nothing special or complicated, and I was hired as a junior game tester, than progressed in seniority, changed departments, production, and now management. What tips I gave people along the way, be honest, be enthusiast, standard for any interview, and don't give up, apply as many times to as many jobs as possible, don't be afraid to go to an interview, I actually encourage it, good or bad result the experience gained is valuable.

It depends on the company, country, studio and position, but a game tester does not need any previous experience, so expect something like the minimum wage or a bit above it.
