I am completely self taught, I was mostly messing around with gaming montages and silly videos like that at the utter beggining, whic was like 5 years ago by now, and up until November 2023 (The month I became a freelancer) it was all for fun, and just a hobby. But most of the REAL experience in the field I have has been gathered in the last 4 months. So under the assumption you have a little experience from the past, I guess reaching proficiency could take like half a year, give or take a few months depending on how much time you dedicate to it and how passionate you are about making videos. It's a very competitive field, but the whole world needs video editors, especially nowadays in our content based society. So I bet you can find your place in it too if you really put your mind to it.

I've been tired in corporate work for a while now and wanted a change in career, never have looked freelancing as easy as I'm seeing from successful people, I wanted to start for a while now, and would like to be a video editor with 0 skills at all. Nice video man! Really interesting! I'm actually curious about one thing. You are speaking about getting good paying clients as a video editor, but it also feels like you need to film the content? Or how do you get the content? From the client itself or do you shoot it as well? Or do you collaborate with a videographer?

So, even though you were into gaming etc, when you were younger, what editing software did you start with and what are you using today? And who taught you how to edit using that software? Did you take classes to learn it or, you just figured it out all on your own?
