I am 14 years old (8th grade going into 9th) and my dream is to become a heart surgeon. In order to proceed on my path in the medical field, I am going to drop out after 10th grade and go straight to college. This will allow me to get a 2 year headstart on my schooling. Plus since you are aloud to pass highschool with a GED all I have to do is pass that test. One of my greatest advantages is since I will be only 16 when I start my college classes, I wont have to worry about finding a house/apartment to live in while taking these classes. (Therefore allowing me to focus on paying off my college tuition instead of paying living costs of a house/apartment.) This will all in all give me a headstart on my career and save me money. Let me know what your thoughts are in the replys😁

Is it true that this speciality is not smart to choose because most of cases Cardiologists are taking from CT surgeons. Also technology is developing very fast which means in future even multiple coronary artery diseases will be treated by stents and not by open heart surgery...

Are there MD from engineering background? I'd been interested in health science course before i went for college but my parents had asked me to do mechanical engineering. After 1st yr of engineering schools, i know i hv to move to medicine. I graduated from mechanical school last yr (because i hv to so as not to payback the sponsorship body). But now i'm still in dilemma if i'm good enough do medicine. So i'm heading to imperial to do masters in biomedical engineering for next academic yr. I can still feel, my passion for medicine, is still burning deep down. But i just hv no idea if i'm good enough. Any advice doctor? I would truly appreciate it. Tq!!

Peter, why doubting yourself? The greatest regret in life is not what you did but what you didn't. You are obviously very smart, have the passion and based on your strong science background, you are half way through. Chase your dream NOW! I am not sure you have finished your masters at Imperial wish is of the premier Universities, once done, just apply to med schools either in UK or move to US, although that will cost a fortune. Anyway just go and win! Good luck brother!
