    Honestly, was this one of the shittiest movies you’ve ever done? It clearly had a budget, a decent one for this kind of movie. The fact that both sides were really too stupid to live. Only the goth boy and the little girl seemed to have any sense, and she does seem to get the best lines in the movie. She reminds me of that little girl warrior queen in Game of Thrones

    I’m all for characters in movies not making “smart” choices, because it’s a lot more entertaining that a phone doesn’t work and they couldn’t call for help versus them getting in contact with emergency services and calling for help. But when you write characters to make bad decisions every step of the way - your movie becomes very dull. Hiding in a pool was some next level stupidity.

  • @VenathTehN3RD

    @VenathTehN3RD

    Жыл бұрын

    Totally. There's a big difference between a character that makes a bad decision and one that makes a stupid decision. I don't expect characters to always make perfect decisions. If a character is always making the perfect choice, it tends to get boring. But their bad decisions need to be believable. Take a movie like "The Thing." The characters aren't perfect. They don't always make the ideal choices. But for the most part they do make competent decisions, and when they make a poor decision, it's usually in a way that's understandable or relatable. They don't have to do completely asinine nonsense just to prevent the plot from being resolved in a matter of minutes. It also makes the monster/killer/whatever far more frightening when the protagonists are competent and generally make sensible decisions. An antagonist that manages to outwit and overcome the protagonists even when those protagonists are clever and capable is far more unnerving than one that succeeds because its targets forget how to breathe if they aren't reminded every five seconds. An MMA match between two pros that have been fighting for years can be exciting, and both the winner and loser will probably look impressive. A pro fighter with years of experience beating down a first grader who has never thrown a punch is a nonsensical waste of time.

    the thing is, if a movie is well made, characters can still lose even when making the best decisions, not because it was a 'who is dumber' battle but a 'let the smartest one win' - it *can* be very entertaining to see smart choices made by both sides, i'd say the horror is even enhanced, as obvious 'just do this for god's sake' decisions become 'what could it do right now? goddammit aa this is bad' but for some reason many horror movies just dumb everyone down, heroes and villains alike - maybe because its easier to make a movie if everyone is braindead, but still movies can be very entertaining with smart characters, its just that its cheaper to dumb everyone down

    I feel like the risk of infections are overblown by the general population in regard to healthy young people with a good immune system. Sure, cases happen where a seemingly healthy young person gets a life threatening infection from some arbitrary thing. But I've put dirty drill bits through my hand, cut myself wide open, had catfish spines go through my hands, had mulch and fertiliser in open wounds, ticks on me for days yada yada without medical intervention and not a single issue at all. I doubt I'm special or have a unique immune system because I get frequent colds and they hammer me into the ground. I just think most healthy young people are highly resistant to the typical bugs you encounter in dirt and water even with an open wound because you encounter them your whole life everyday. I mean people literally handle faeces everyday as part of their job and it absolutely gets into their system occasionally. Personally I think it might be a hold over from pre-modern times when it wasn't unusual to have stunted growth and development through childhood and then go through frequent periods of starvation all while being deprived of clean water and many vitamins and minerals - in that situation your immune system can probably be knocked out by the wind. FYI I know how that sounds but I'm not anti-establishment. Me and my family are all vaccinated and when one of us is sick we try to keep away.

He wasn't jamming any signals, he was just pretending to be a tower from a more popular carrier, then dropping the calls. The reason was to not jam an signals since that would be easily tracked, what he did was pretend to be the best tower in a range of channels in hope of catching the average cell user. To this day I'm glad we never went for the lights, and when ever the power goes out, even if I plugged in a 2.1GWh car into the socket I'm not going up to the fuse box without a knife and my dog near me.

    Simon seems like a decent guy as I'm sure you would agree he tried to warn them several times including saving them when they're in the cornfield due to the fact he is similar to the little kid from Texas chainsaw massacre that tries to help the victims but there is nothing he can do because he doesn't want to completely betray his family despite being born into the family labeled a serial killer in spite of not finding killing and hurting people enjoyable making this a situation in which I don't know what I would do. There I corrected it. Everything he said in one grammatically correct sentence
