Every single time I do this fight I stagger him and when he snaps out of It he's about 5-10% health and he hits me with an unavoidable grab and he insta kills me . Its really pissing me off

Yup, it’s dumb. If you don’t kill him in the stagger, you lose the fight. Ascension is your best bet, but if you don’t do enough damage you have to stack buffs on cloud

I absolutely had my spirits crushed last night, getting through all the other battle phases just to have to give up on this BS last part. I tried 15 times and would get him down to the last and my limit break does not finish him off in the stagger. Ugh.

I had to put this fight on easy and I was still getting killed what I ended up doing to win was using Eris limit gauge for protection of all physical damage and that barely got me by and I made sure to save a mist giga potion which obviously heals everyone in the party by 3000 points so using that immediately after that Hail Mary he does saved me

Took me a good few goes, kept getting to that stage where he insta kills you in his final phase. To make matters worse, no barrier materia and Aerith had no materia at all, so made things even tougher. Why don’t they allow you to adjust your materia before the various fights, really would help a lot!

If Aerith doesn't have Materia it's worth restarting the entire sequence and equipping her. Yes I know that's annoying and it takes like an hour to get back through it all. For the final phase 'the end is nigh' - save Clould's limit break and the synergy skill (firework blade) - those two were enough to finish him off but barely. Took me 5-6 tries to beat him, lots of trial and error.

A cheap way to beat him is to put limit siphon on cloud. Equip reraise on Aerith and that materia that swaps mp with hp. Each time Aerith gets killed (which she’ll likely be one shot) Aerith will revive and get a huge limit boost. Cloud siphons her limit and spam his limit breaks and repeat.

I always get auto one shotted on the very last part from the octoslash because I can’t do enough damage in time. I’ve play this boss over 20 times and I’m starting to think I might REALLY be stuck for the first time in a video game. They NEED to patch a couple of these boss fights. This one and the Rufus boss are the two most broken ones so far.

@@DirectGamingYT I finally beat it. I just rushed the fuck out of him. Completely ignored healing or any type of thinking or strategy. Just straight up blitzed him, with button mashing, spells and limits. Woke up all my neighbors screaming F**K YOU MF after beating him 😂😂😂

@@eanderson9599yep it’s the same for me too. I don’t have Cloud’s Final Touch limit break (only Ascension) and it doesn’t do enough damage when staggered. And I am manawalled as well. This version of octoslash seems to be blocked. But there’s one extra hit at the end which insta kills all players even when I have over 50% health. Anyone have any idea on how to beat without Cloud’s next limit break??

Ok I JUST beat it with only having Ascension. The key is to have the ATB filled and Ascension available when he does The End is Nigh. When he starts doing that I did Ascension which increased the pressure immensely. I had to increase it more with regular attacks until he got staggered. Once he got staggered I killed him with one hit of Braver!

I remember having fun playing as sephiroth in the beginning 😭

Nomura and friends really do believe that the boss just straight up just invoking damage frames at the last chunk of life was super smart as a game design. The very first time he initiated Tempus I used Ascension and he just ignored it. Initiated Octoslash and we died. But the most aggrivating thing about this is when you retry the "retry from checkpoint" is a 2 minute cutscene. WHY?

I just changed the difficulty to easy after losing the final phase of the boss fight 5 times lol. I’m here for the story, so whatever. Older I get the less I care about what difficulty I finish the game on. I really enjoyed this game overall! Outside of some sections that dragged.

The thing that sucks about the ending is not the difficulty, its how big of a jump it is, i like difficult games, the souls series are my favourite but to jump to this battle from everything else before is a fucking joke it takes DAYS to figure it out, otherwise you have to turn down the setting...... Souls games are good at making it super hard but progressively more challening not just throwing the kitchen sink at you at the end., you have to go through a retarded amount of cut screens to get back to the fight if you didnt happen to have your materia perfect to begin with its just a dumb way to make the game difficult at the end...... at worst there should be a shortcut where its cloud and sephiroth 1v1

Been trying to beat him the last few days and felt so frustrated. This vid definitely helped alot, when I got to the veeeeeeery last part I got excited then got one shoted by the octoslash… this fight is something else

I have tried 30+ times trying to beat Sephiroth and just can't do it. I get very close, dwindling him down to a sliver of health, but can't seem to pressure him enough at the end, and I get one shot every single time. I never added a point in the folio for Clouds 3rd level break. I don't have barrier or fire on me. Although I found that Aerith's Soul Drain ability works extremely well on the sword, which I'm using instead of fire. I'm flipping between characters, and healing using mist gigas, so health is not the problem here at all. One would think that by setting the game's options to normal with classic mode selected would make this fight a breeze, since in classic it says something like "use this if you just want to focu on abilities" and it isn't working well. Works great for most other other fights, but not this one. I might have to call it. I completed all regions, all side quests except 1 against a tough dude at the golden saucer, and everyone in my party is in the light blue maxed-happy. I had a great time with the game, and think i'll just youtube the ending. It's most likely a skill issue, and I'm fine with that. I've simply had enough. Thanks for the great guide video! Cheers! 🍻

Update - I gave it a few more attempts and finally beat it the bastard. What i did differently this time was to use United Refocus at the very end, where Sephiroth sends out a that cyclone of damage. What that is split the ATB gauge into 3 segments, which I was able to use Focused Thrust 3 times in a row, which was enough to pressure him. Some people were saying to use your limit firework blade at the end, or save up for ascension, but i highly recommend going with United Refocus so you've got enough ATB to slam him with 3 Focused Thrusts and fully pressure him. If you've got ascension, wait till after you pressure him, and use it. I also didn't use cureand instead I used gigapotions, because it is used faster to heal due to the cure animations being slower. So throw all your synergy abilities and limits at him, but save up for United Refocus. I didn't use Figra either. Aeriths Soul Drain works just as good against the sword. Good luck!

@@BeersYourFriend I'm a bit late to the conversation but huge congrats!!! It took me over an hour to beat him but I finally did. I came really really close on five different occasions. I once pressured him during his The End is Nigh move but failed to down him. The way I beat him was by using Ascension. It had just enough juice to do the job. Now on to the next game. Sending you virtual high-fives! We did it! 😁

I'm struggling at the end when he does he one-shot BS. I don't have Barrier and i'm not about to re-do the whole fight from Cloud+Zack again for a 3rd time.

That last part of the fight is utter BS though; you can't expect that last octaslash part after that ray of whispers drowning your health down so you're likely to die even with a good build, just because the game gives you a F you moment if you haven't saved up your limit break.

No, saving your limit break should not be a mandatory thing for a fight - or at least should come up with a warning so you can prepare for it. As much as I liked Rebirth, this last fight was poorly designed.

it took me almost 2 days but after fighting him so often you can understand the pattern and he gets easier. i played on dynamic and did the following: •unfortunately, i did have to restart back to jenova to give aerith fire since i took everything off of her and gave it to cait believing i wouldn't play her in the future. it's 100% worth it and the fights aren't that hard, just time consuming. i also should add that i intended to give her raise but later on found that i didn't give it to her. nonetheless i could still use phoenix downs when using her. once aerith has fire, make sure cloud has it too. •in the beginning of the fight prioritize getting at least one ATB up for each of them, dodging as much as possible. seph will use his kamehameha and you need fire to destroy the masanune quickly. •this fight is impossible without aerith's radiant ward. use it as much as possible to get her ATB to constantly use pray. i thought i really needed cure for her but pray+potions did fine. after you pressure him from destroying masamune i use cloud a little bit to hurt him and then switched to aerith to let the AI continue to distract seph as i got aerith's ATB up as soon as possible for the radiant ward. •every time seph directs his attention towards cloud, i instantly switched to aerith to keep using radiant ward and use pray. if you're using it so much that you're full health then you can use fire if you like but be sure to leave MP for at least enough 2 fires for the last part of the boss. •when you first see cloud and aerith's synergies use it at the timing you think is best. i use it when i stagger seph for the first time. this is important because cloud needs his second limit break for the last part of the boss. as for aerith's i need her limit as well but do NOT use planet protection. it's useless in this fight. you can use them immediately in this part of the fight, and the second time the limits activate but trust me when i say don't use them for the third time. you're going to want to save them for the final part and it'll be so easy. also, when seph was staggered i also used the titan summon. that's to help out with damage (of course) but so i can keep my ATB up as much as possible. it's also super helpful to help stagger seph as you're saving your limit break for later. •be sure to keep at least one ATB on for each character to use fire because you'll need to destroy masamune when seph does his tornado. the same is for his octoslash. if you can't destroy his wing and sword when he powers it up, just focus on one. •when seph activates his final move before octoslash, that's when you immediately go to use aerith's healing wind to get cloud's health up as much as possible so he can use ascension on seph. that's not going to kill him but it will stagger him. then spam fire and you're done

It's 3 am, my head hurts, after 8 tries of this fight alone, I finally give up for now. I always die when he does his "The End is Nigh" bullshit. Up until that point, I'm doing fine but that part is just unfair. I tried saving my limit break for this part and it barely did anything. :( I wish you could go back to the menu from the death screen and change up your equipment... EDIT: I did it on my 10th try. Honestly, I think I just got lucky, but heres what I did. - When not pressured or staggered, keep your distance from Sephiroth and only attack from afar - Equip the item master materia for Cloud and stock up on Gigapotions - Eqiup ATB boost materia - Dont bother using wards with Aerith, save the ATB for the attacks and use her to quickly spam Fire (on the Wing) and Thunder (on Masamune) when possible + let Cloud spam this as well - Try to keep limit breaks for the last part of the fight for Cloud, Aerith is only there to heal (I also have Pheonix equipped on her, which has helped healing me in previous runs) - Spam Fire and Limit Break during "The End is Nigh" I got lucky and managed to beat him before he could end "The End is Nigh". Reading about the Octaslash he apparently does afterwards sends shivers downy spine, I barely survived at the end.

A tip for when Sephiroth does Whisper Cannon (I didn't see it mentioned in this video), use Fira or Firaga on his Wing. That will "diminish his power" and pressure him. I always used the Arcane Ward, and would use Aerith to cast Fira.

Well having been killed right at the end, the first time I tried this, I went through and set up all their materia, and realised Cait Sith had nothing the first time I'd tried it! Thanks for the tips here though, I was playing on easy so it wasn't too bad, on the third try using Cloud's limit break succeeded.

I think when you go to restart it’ll show the square button in the bottom left during the cutscene then if you hold it it’ll open your menu after the cutscene/ before the fight starts, they didn’t exactly make it easy to see though lol

Beat this on my 3rd try… gotta use ATB ward first, then Arcane to double cast, then Radiant…. Gotta keep these 3 active the entire battle. That helped me out a lot for anyone watching this… this MFer is sooo cheap once he uses heartless angel.

Days without able to finish the very last part of this fight :D I was thinking I should time the summoner to the right moment, but I didn't manage to yet. I guess saving a limit would be smarter like you said. About how do stagger him when he is in the air, I found lvl 3 spell fire always works.

You can get the sword and the wing down by using ice and fire and normal attacks on those. And you should be doing it. This way he gets weaker and is open for staggering faster.

Took me almost 6 tries lol finally got

What's really fucking aggravating is his heartless angel attack it's the reason why i probably won't play the 3rd game this developer in particular is known for making games with impossible odds of winning and is merely based on dumb luck lol

I just got him on my 4th attempt, when he started the end is nigh thing, I hit him with a Fira which instantly staggered him and had ascension which was enough

Appreciate the video my guy, I kept getting stuck at the insta kill but your advice helped me figure out how to avoid the purple haze and get enough hits in.

I absolutely hate this fight. Every time he goes into the end is nigh, he's just coming out of a stagger so his pressure bar is nearly empty. I've tried slowing down pressuring so he gets to end is nigh before another stagger but it's so hard to get this right. So f'ing tired of watching the phase cutscene. F these devz

This fight was a nightmare I had to save Aerith limit break & my phoenix summon for when heartless angel came out & was super stingy with my atp but good advice was when he does the whisper whirlwind attack his sword is super susceptible to spell attacks & that filled his pressure gauge pretty fast

i had to break this fight down to a science, and it was still barely enough: Aerith’s magic was strong enough that usually one shot was able to pressure either the sword or the wing to interrupt his big attacks. i didn’t have magnify equipped, so i was constantly having to buff both cloud and aerith separately with Barrier and protect. in the 2nd phase of the fight i always made sure I had at least one atb for each person, so when Sephiroth went for Octoslash, i could use both cloud and Aerith to hit the sword and wing at once to stagger him. the move that takes everyone to 1hp is cheap, but yea i had to use aeriths limit for that, and switch to cloud so he doesn’t die before the move heals him. One of them falling unconscious is almost always game over, because losing your buffs on top of having to spend atb reviving them WHILE sephiroth is only coming at you is so rough. and just hope cloud has his Limit and a couple atbs for The End is Nigh

I'll be honest with everyone here 'Limit Siphon Materia is the best one for Cloud cause he can get Aerith's limit gauge here and save a limit to where a point he does the "The end is Nigh" ability of sephiroth and use that limit on him. It took me 4 tries to beat him on Normal mode, cause I did 120 hours in this game and exploring pretty much.

That materia is very helpful. Many can also just not use their limit until the end. It’s not that bad of a fight. I think people are going in under leveled. -Tallen

I did it, all I did was wait to use my limits and synchro moves for his last bit of health attack, once you know how to stagger him and avoid his moves its not that hard at all, but still hard 😅

I use fire on the wing or rhe enemy skill that gives you faith and bravery. For the sword I use lightning. For either one I use fira then fire and same for the sword one level 2 and 1 level 1.

On my first playthrough, I beat this fight on my first try with no problem. But on my second playthrough, I couldn't beat it after ten tries! I just gave up! Did they change something with the update or something?! I am so pissed off right because I was really looking forward to seeing the ending again! 😡

Go bk to check point. Sell every item… make sure all your characters have a PARTY HEAL TECHNIQUE… and at the end make sure you use your mega potions…. AND SAVE ULTRA for when seth does the final spin….. btw i promise you they become expectable lol just take a break and go bk

I beat Malenia from Eldin ring on my third try. But this guy is freaking ridiculous I'm giving up for the second night now gonna try again tomorrow..

Took a couple of goes at this yesterday and couldn't figure out why I was getting insta-killed when he was down to the last 5~10% health... and then I looked up some user experiences. When he goes for "The End Is Nigh" - that's your cue to unleash at LEAST a Lv2 Limit break, Lv3 being even better as Ascension activates quickly. If you still don't end him, use an ATB Braver and that will definitely finish the job. You really have to be on your toes with this fight and constantly be reviving/healing/buffing(haste) either Cloud or Aerith because the chances of you getting knocked out are high the entire fight. Persist with it, switch out often when one is getting skewered, use Elixirs and dodge his basic attacks, heal, buff and repeat until he's roundabout smack-down level. It's only when he uses Octostrike and Heartless Angel where you REALLY need to scramble on ATB commands. I set up all party members heading in and caved Sephiroth's head in on the first go through today. Very, VERY satisfying beatdown. GOTY - no question.

This is both one of the best and absolute worst final bosses in gaming. It’s not luck but it’s so cheesy

I put this on easy mode, used Ascension twice, with bravery, still only got the stagger gauge to half 🤨

Ive tried this fight like 8 times already. Ive finally got the hang of how to get him down to the last 20 percent but my problem is when he starts to do the End is Nigh his pressure guage is all the way at the bottom. So im not able to stagger him in time before he does Octoslash again. Ughhhh. I really want to give up

There's no way to change materia. It would have been nice to know that in the final battle I wouldn't be able to use my main team in the final fucking battle. Fucking lame.

@@Nemo.404 Dude you have to admit if you went into the final battle you saw that not only was Aerith not in the party but in the VERY next scene she "dies" A lot of people jump to conclusions and realized she had some good swag on her and decided to take it away for active party members. MIND you for the easiest part of the fight they let you bring up the menu. Imagine thinking people are crying. That's bad game design. Even down to being force to restart after the previous battle which is a cut scene that you cannot skip. I think overall the fight is awesome especially the party dynamic. Everyone is in sync. But the mechanics here sucks. Even if I 100% assumed Aerith would be back and part of me did still having the choice to adjust her equipment was important. Next to Cloud she's my primary party member in terms of what she offers. Its not even a hard ask.

I screwed uo several times, retried, had to watch the f*cking cutscene over and over, and in my last attempt, i screw up early and think, well i better try again from the start. I hit pause and retry the battle... And the f*cking game send my all the way at the beginning when cloud starts going up the stairs... F*ck this game.

Tried this fight 4 times on normal, died during Tempus Finis every single time :( Had to redo the whole final boss sequence on easy to avoid tearing my hair out; the difference between normal and easy seems a *bit* too vast.

A lot of the comments here complaining about instant kills. Did you guys get the reraise materia??

Yeah only the insta-kill kill both cloud and aerith so you don't get a chance to use it

Honestly this boss fight made me hate the game

It took me 6 hours to beat this whole section. After 2 hours I took a break then my ps5 auto turned off. Had to restart all the way from walking into the temple. I’ve never felt so defeated. Ran through those first 3 fights pretty quickly but spent another couple hours losing to that insta death at the end. Being forced to save limit breaks is so tedious. I even saved a synergy ability to use both at the end and it still didn’t kill him in time. Don’t mind how difficult a boss fight can be but the cheese that come with this did not make it enjoyable

I beat this guy after an hour or so. I'd say he beat me easily a dozen times; not an easy fight. I always hated the mechanics of of Remake and Rebirth is no better. There are too many little odd things the game does that drives me insane. For example I got Sephiroth down to that last notch of HP just before he begins 'The End Is Nigh'. Alexander, the summon I had in play, did his final attack and... nothing. Sephiroth's HP didn't move. The fight is created in a way to make The End is Nigh unavoidable. It's maddening.

I get him down to nothing and pulls some nasty move that kills both of them. Nothing I can do about it.

0:25 did he just say no wings and literally show the part where Sephiroth has the wing 😁😁

Took me 5-6 hrs to repeat and finish this final chapter smh

I was able to beat him on my first try but when I replayed C14 it took me four attempts. Some of his moves are absolute BS

There was a lot of luck on that play through lol. GGs though :)

I just got to this fight on Hard, one thing I found that helps is having at least 5 giga mist potions to quickly get you back up from that 1 hp. Fira preferably both Aerith and a cloud have equipped to cast for quickly taking out wing and blade. I agree saving LBs for final phase as it's a DPS race and the movement required all but nullifies Aeriths DPS. You better be comfortable with switching between characters for sure. Also TIP for anyone that has to restart the battle DO NOT select the retry battle option. That brings you all the way back to earlier phases.

Yes the mist potions are great when one winged is used. yes they need to fix that "restart ___" for game 3. That got us a few times.

Wait what? I press retry from latest battle(or whatever it is in english) and I have to restart from the sephiroth fight with zack and cloud, so I get bored quit the game and eventually restart from jenova,what should I be selecting?

The absolute worst part about the entire boss fight is how the game cancels your damage for a cutscene. Dope, I just burned ATB because you want me to watch a movie. This, Rufus, and the Odin fight were ridiculous but for the love of all things holy this thing might beat Uncharted 2 for the cheesiest slogfest of a final boss.

When you get him below 25% health you can't damage him cuz he automatically unleashes "The end is nigh" fkn bs. Your only chance of winning is to stagger him during this move otherwise he'll hit you with Octoslash Prime and it's RIP ☠️ I luckily managed to do it by just tryna cast thundaga over and over plus healing occasionally

So life took my time away from this and ive noticed if you just throw magic at either the sword or wing (doesnt matter if its base fire or max firaga) itll auto pressure or stagger him shutting that down

What level are you? Try blocking his basic sword attacks. Slow the battle down to your pace.

This is how you ruin a Final Game experience by doing too much. Nobody asked Square for FF Souls. The final battle is wayyyy too long and the Phase w the wings was unnecessary. FF is about customization not having your characters locked and forced to use spells that isn’t equipped w/o warning (wing phase) because Aireth Dead is Dumb absolutely pissed me off because i had to reset to checkpoint to customize characters. I hope in FF 3 remake they stop locking player to mission also

Funny how people get so frustrates about dying. Like you people don't wanna be challenged. If you don't want that then play the game on easy mode, that's why it has difficulty levels. And for the ending just save your last limits and synergy abilities and there you go. That's all you need to do

I literally gotten close multiple times this is lowkey a easier fight i had compared to some others embarassing to admit its weird Edit: yea this fights pissing me off i cant he keeps killing my teammate and just attacking through my attacks not letting me get anything off and just spamming the same attack i cant rest this i love this ending so much however this is getting tiresome i cant even save to this point which annoys me and i am NOT going back and doing the other fights so im stuck here

You just have to use Clouds Limit during that whisper tornado

Him being unbeatable without using you limit break is the biggest bullshit. knocked down the game a few points

You don’t need the limit break but it’s very helpful. You should get your limit break pretty early in the battle.

I agree with you. Part of the fun in a game is discussing the different ways each person beat an enemy - especially a boss. Like it shouldn't be that you NEED this particular move or something like it in order to beat the boss. Like one person could say they finished him off with Aerith's soul drain and another could say they Bravered him at the end. It is absolutely draining to have to do the exact same thing over and over again. For me, it starts to get to the point where I now know WHAT to do, but I mess it up in trying to execute it because I'm TIRED. This fight boils my blood that we can ALL get him down to a fraction of health but then ALL must use a giant power move - or set of power moves- to take him out. Doesn't anyone else find that to be boring as hell? Point A MUST line up with point B, otherwise you're dead. Didn't save your LB? Dead. Cloud didn't point his toes correctly north while swinging to the west? Dead. It's ridiculous. I remember John Wolfe playing Elden Ring and fighting Margit the Fell. He had his jellyfish summon that spits poison with him and he actually got killed during the end of the fight when the boss was at a fraction of health --and his jellyfish spat poison one last time before the game over screen hit and killed the the boss. And it counted! You know that was a story he told that was crazy and cool and rewarding. There is none of that here in this boss fight. It just mentally drains you and sucks all the fun out of the game. I love a challenge. What I don't love is a challenge that is lazily done and can only be beat by correctly lining up several chance things in order to finally come out on top. I enjoyed the boss fights in Remake. Here, not so much.

Not gonna lie. that's propably the shitties final boss I've seen in any game. Making boss immune for 90% is not a mechanic

What boss battle were you playing? You can damage the guy the whole battle. The trick is to not get caught in his combos.

@@GamingwTallenV winged phase for example. Plus yeah, "combos" aka unavoidable 99.99% HP dmg and not even boss rush because you'll just die without limit break on the last phase

This ending ruined the game there are just too many boss fights its ridiculous

Nevermind I beat him he is easy Hurt his wing with magic attacks and hurt his masamune with magic attacks I killed him in the end with infinitys end it was cool.

I really hate the whole Sephiroth fight. It’s just frustration all the way. I feel I barely can have any strategy or use what I’ve learned during the game. The majority of the fights I don’t know what t f is happening on the screen. It’s just terrible game design imo. And the last part comes some bs attack you can’t do sht about. This bs soured me on the game so much. Loved playing the game until this part

I think Im done with this game I get within one hit of killing him and he some how one shots us? Very few game that I get right to the end and want to quit but Square is blowing my mind with this dog shit game
