As I’ve been forced to slow down while going through cancer treatment, I have had time to read again. I’m realizing how much I missed it and how much I’ve always loved reading. This is definitely a positive thing coming out of what’s going on with me right now.
I just finished “How To Be Old” by Lyn Slater a.k.a. the Accidental Icon. I really loved this book on so many levels. I’ve been following Lyn for a while because I love her style and how she blogs. I could tell that she is a layered person with lots to say. I love how honest and open she is and how much she shares about her life not only the behind-the-scenes of the Accidental Icon but just everything that’s happened to her in her first seven decades on this planet.
I found the book very inspirational and it just made me feel really good and hopeful for the future. I could also relate so much to what she had to say and I felt like I found a kindred spirit. I love how she talks about “new old” as it relates to her wardrobe, home and basically life in general. Most of what I have in my life is also “new old” as I love repurposing and upcycling vintage and resale into every aspect of my life. Thank you, Lyn for the beautiful experience of reading and digesting what you have to say. I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with this next decade.
