I post new love life advice for you every weekend.

Whether you’ve been watching my videos for 5 days or 5 years, this is one you can’t miss. It’s one of the most fundamental concepts I’ve ever taught, and it is the key to:
- Increasing your confidence
- Expanding your life
- Being irreplaceable to the person you want
- Being able to handle any part of your life going wrong
This is where my dating advice meets my deeper advice for how to live an extraordinary life. Don’t watch this video for dating tips. Watch this video to level up your entire life.
Every week, I help millions of people create the love life they’ve always wanted. But I don’t want the state of your life and your happiness to ever be dependent on the status of your love life.
The great irony is that it’s when your happiness no longer depends on the status of your love life that your love life finally has a chance to click.
Enjoy this video. It’s a big one.

    So to sum it up: Don't be a flat character, be a dynamic character, who's well-rounded and interesting. Think of side characters in TV shows vs the main characters.

    Dear Lindsay, yes that sums it up… And, may I add, even more than being a “dynamic character…” It’s being true to the freak flag that you need to fly! And, if you’re in a rut, access your patterns of endorphins / “atta girl” hits from youth, which possibly keep you tunnelled in a narrow path. Those powerful emotions are quietly directing you, and -oops- maybe worthy of an armpit test? Busted: I raise my hand/ arm to that (sniff test)! 😝 thanks for inspiring my comment!

    wow this hit me hard. Growing up, my source of validation was always getting good grades. After graduating, that was a rude awakening because all of a sudden, life wasn't just about submitting assignments and getting good grades

    I totally get this. I for years got my self-worth based on my professional achievements. Writing a book, getting into the next fancy thing to do. But being a good friend and daughter, having fun in life and working on my channel and my little DIY projects is just as much important.

    Definitely make sure you're seeing the person as they are and not just how you want them to be. Sometimes we want to be "enough" for someone to change their ways (blame romance novels and movies for this kind of thinking) but in the end, it's "their ways" and either we either except them as they are or we move on. Matthew sums it up perfectly by saying that people often go after the "potential" in a relationship instead of the "reality" of the relationship.

    Yes, remember it all starts with you! Bringing the focus back on yourself will enhance other areas. People don't lose interest in others who have a well-rounded life and who always love/respect/put themselves first. Sounds contradictory, but it is what works...in life and in romance!

    Really appreciate this video. I was a ballet dancer, working in New York City. That’s an all-encompassing life since it’s so demanding. I developed a degenerative nerve disorder so I can’t dance like I used to anymore and some days even walking is hard. My confidence all came from my physical capabilities. Losing it was actually a blessing because it forced me to see myself in new ways. This was a great reminder of that 🙏🏻

    This rings so true. I lost my job last year in an almost violent way. During the very first lock down. So I was completely cut off from my work and colleagues. The only narrative I was hearing was one that was untrue and also extremely negative. As it was lock down I couldn't even see my family so there was no positive reinforcement or a chance for me to see myself through the eyes of those who love me. I had to reintroduce myself to myself. Who was I when what had validated me had been completely stripped away. This is an ongoing journey but I'm coming out the other side and am very careful on how I define myself. I am so many different things and am much more balanced in feeding the different parts of my soul. Thanks for sharing. Although it was a little late for me as my work ethic had already mutated, your video showed me I'm right in diversifying the parts of myself I feed.

    This becomes extremely relevant as you move away from the grind of life and realize that major life events like a spouse dying or job loss or becoming an empty nester force you to have something other than the routine skills you honed in that former phase of life. Well done as always.

    I agree…last year my right foot went numb…within two weeks I was numb up to my chest. Having been known for a strong body and always working out, I said Lord…at least my hands still work. I brought out my paints which calm my anxiousness about what was happening. Over the course of time, all my feeling came back in the same weird way it disappeared and I’ve now been in two art shows and I was successful. A full mri showed nothing so I was helpless but many other things kept me going! Develop skills, love people, listen to God and become well rounded!

    I feel like I really needed this video today. I've been a hard worker all my life and I realized it was my profession that really gave me meaning and purpose. But a year ago I decided to take a break because of the stress and just focus on learning more and now I'm looking to get back to working which is obviously hard with the Pandemic. I'm now struggling because I always got my "validation" through my work or through my merit and learning. Its odd because my friends and family see "the other legs under the table" in my personality but I am struggling to. Thanks for this Matt. Its lovely to see how your videos have morphed from dating advice to actually feeling more secure, confident and getting stronger as a person! Your videos are always so positive and helpful :)

    And you can be all of these things and then people start to feel threatened or " outshined " by you. So you find yourself minimizing aspects of yourself so that as not to threaten other. Someone I dated ... Complex story Said to me ... You are the full package ... Its not fair that you are so good at everything. You can rock an evening gown and run around naked in a waterfall. He actually said . Its not fair to other women. Then he left me ...with very little warning... Except when I looked back and pin pointed them could I see them. He tried to come back and get closure but I said no. Too much time and too much hurt. I guess he realized I was not a person who was in the dozen a penny category. I have a lot of unique pairings. I find that it intrigues people and it also threatens them. At the end of the day I have to feel good about my own authenticity. Finding someone whom we align and he walks in his has proven to be challenging. So you can have great pairings but it won't keep people interested if they don't know who they are.

    That's crazy but I relate to it. Ive dated a few men who thought I was too good for them and they had a paranoia that I would realize that and leave them so they treated me with resentment as if Id already hurt them...which of course made me leave.

  • @anjagoller

    @anjagoller

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@clairemosier1274 At least you had a date. I can't even get that far. I don't think that men don't date me because of the fear I would leave them. It just lowers their selfconfidence for whatever reason. When I'm willing to date a guy with an intelligence a bit lower than mine then I'm doing it because I still think it could work out. It's not like I don't get he's less intelligent and I think intelligent women instantly know when a guy is less intelligent, but so what? Pretending doesn't work either way because we will know anyways.

  • @anjagoller

    @anjagoller

    3 жыл бұрын

    @goose No, I don't. And I know that there are many different forms of intelligence. But I want to be able to have a balanced conversation with my partner. That doesn't mean that I want to talk about difficult subjects but I don't want to feel superior to a partner. Maybe it's not so much intelligence what I'm looking for but just the general feeling we're equal. That includes that I also must be sure that he's willing to treat me equally. I never said that I look at someone and judge his intelligence. But when you have a conversation you can find out quite fast if someone is just pretending and that for this reason pretending to be smarter than you actually are is pointless.

    Matthew, Matthew, Matthew! Awesome video today and I swear something I was just thinking about on my way to work. I rely on the fact that I am successful at work and anyone should want to be with someone like me, but lately I realised that I give this so much importance, that I have not developed other areas of who I am. I almost take it personal if a guy picks a girl that has a simpler job, perhaps not so brainy, and feel that, just because I have a better position, men should fall instantly for me. I have yet to learn to cultivate myself more. Thanks for addressing this so well!

    Hello Matt. Thank you for sharing this concept. 😊 What I summed up from this mini seminar is to essentially diversify ourselves. Perhaps be multifaceted, not necessarily be 100% great all the things we do - be it hobbies in our personal lives, or goals in our professional - but simply be open to ideas and be able to merge them into our daily lives. Being diversified with different combinations of the unique pairings makes me feel it all boils down to having balance in our lives. A balance that may result in a certain image of us that gives that sense of being irreplaceable.

    Hi Matt, thanks for your thoughts presented in this video. You are right, of course, but there is also a trap which is good to be aware of. If you choose too many things which you like to do and you become good at that and you don't want to give up anything of your hobbies and interests, then you can end up at your Chinese acupuncturist hearing something like that: "your liver, your heart, your kidneys... are entirely depleted. Hey man, you should rest more!" :-D... btw I love your videos, it is always fun and wise together. What a unique pairing! :-)

    Dear Matt! LUVV this! Is this not a call to authenticity? And breaking out of the positive patterns from childhood?I I challenge you to come up with **even more unique** pairings; you know, pairs that are more unusual, not just tertiary add-ons. What about unique pairings where the stereotype is busted open wide? Like the -take an easy common media image-buff workout dude or gal who’s ALSO into... pick anything that seems SURPRISING to that… French poetry, arts and crafts, trips to Antarctica or space travel, as supposed to trips to the gym, etc., or blends caring for others with their caring of their own body, such as local, neighborhood activism, etc. Thanks for inspiring my comment! And I’ve been listening to you easily for the last eight years I would say. Keep growing! It’s beautiful to witness and be inspired by how you walk your talk! 🥰 And thanks to your team as well… Jamieson!
