How to (BARELY) Qualify for Red Bud Pro National on a YZ250 2 Stroke
Спорт
#promotocross #redbud #2stroke
Got a new GoPro hero 11 after losing the insta360 camera so we were back in action for how to qualify for the national this time at red bud! Had a bad first practice and a better second practice and just barely made the cut, even had a little accidental run in with Jason Anderson

I'm really really debating to making the 12 hr drive to redbud for their labor day ride day. Track looks amazing and I really want to start traveling to other tracks instead of riding my same 3 local tracks. Honestly you're the one who inspired me to just bite the bullet and make the drive to different places to ride. I can either go my whole life wishing I could've rode these tracks or just make the damn drive
@mattburkeen820

It would definitely be worth your trip! That’s awesome I’m really glad to hear that, a little driving ain’t nothing when you get to do what you love!!
i always found when i was not comfortable in the ride i would get arm pump. you are still making the mains, top 40 in the pros, no small feat, congrats.

I definitely think lack of comfort was a factor which is a bummer because I was really stoked for red bud. But you’re right, thank you!!
5 rounds, 5 shows. For a dude on a full privateer ride with very little help, thats a hell of an accomplishment

Matty we always ran either the DID ERT2(NOW 3)or if ibought a complete set of sprockets and chain i would order that from Renthal,both are gold in color and non o-ring with a tensile strenghth well over 7500 lbs so plenty strong for 250 smoker,and at 120 links the weight is about 3.5lbs so that is nice an light aswell.Sunstar also has a good Moto chain,the 520MXR1 would be a solid choice.Peace,and good luck at your next race,i really enjoy the vids.

Won’t make that mistake again! Definitely was slowing the bike down. Thank you I appreciate it!!
You are living the dream of many people to ride a national on a 2 stroke as well. Happy fourth of July to a real all American hero. I don't think the average person realizes the accomplishment it is to qualify when you are riding against bikes that have motors almost twice the size of yours😮
@mattburkeen820
Жыл бұрын
Agreed 100%!! Happy late 4th to you as well. It’s hard but a lot of fun, no complaints here!!
Getting in the deep berm on the outside definitely lugs down the motor. That bike requires inside lines to compete. Shorter distance!!! Also, squeeze the tank with your knees going through the sand rollers. Will help a ton.
@Wooddyy.

Maybe insides on a 450?? 250 2 stroke is a whole different animal, I believe his lines are doing him justice but always good to have outside options
@mattburkeen820
Жыл бұрын
Brother if you knew how deep some of those insides were you wouldn’t go there either 😂😂 you have a good point but when it’s that deep and muddy you have to go where it’s the least deep and where you can carry most momentum, especially being underpowered!
Good job! Ya keep on qualifying ! That's huge, not many can even make it to nationals, Love your honest comments, and your courage to push on.

So crazy how hard you have to ride to just barely make the top 40. That track is always super deep in practice, every time I have been there it's just axle deep everywhere. I don't know how you guys ride it that hard. Love the action regardless of the camera angle or mud, thanks for sharing all of this.

There is only one way to deal with arm pump and that's a steering damper. Withh all of my injuries, I couldn't ride without one. A broken wrist along with epicondial damage and all off the rest of the upper body damage have taken their toll. My wrist isn't the same and is weak in certain positions, my shoulders are loose, especially on the left and then there are the neck issues. I adjust it to only take the nervousness out of the bars which relieves you of micro reacting which is what pumps up your arms. Eliminate those reactions and arm pump goes away or lessens to a significant amount. Plus the damper helps with the back kicking sideways in braking bumps and keeps the bars in your hands if you're landed over and the front wheel takes a sideways hit. You should try one. Eliminates at least 50 percent of upper body fatigue.
@mattburkeen820
Жыл бұрын
I think there’s more than one way to deal with it lol, I’ve never used a steering dampener and I haven’t always had arm pump. If it wasn’t mid season I’d look into trying one but not really looking to make a big change between races!
dude the chain is killing me I feel that drain on my 1000 I hate it ! on that thing its dragging an anchor around the mud... if you are forced to use the o-ring chain again at the Wick do this amazon order have it sent to the wick whatever get some 'gun oil" personal lube yeah laugh go a head ill wait. got that out of your system? good clean your chain completely then dry it then use the gun oil only nothing else it will give you back alot of that lost power and nothing else will stick like dirt only gun oil or platinum silicone lube gun oil is best, drastically improves the power
