Excellent advice. I keep an old ski pole in the trunk of my car because I struggle with fierce winds on slippery surfaces. Keeping one in the trunk means I won't be caught unprepared while out. At home, I keep a pair of cross country poles handy. Together with studed shoe runners, the combo gets me to my car safely. I also have snow shoes with collapsible poles, but I find the taller cross country poles gives me better leverage requiring less strength. In summer, I use the crosscountry poles for stability walking up the mushy sand that churns in the waves along the shoreline. I put a few pieces of pool noodles around the poles (cut lengthwise on one side in order to wrap around the poles) for floating stability while doing aquatic exercises. I enjoy and benefit from exercising in a natural lake, and I feel great about getting in and out of the lake without assistance. BTW, I never go alone. Thanks for all your insights. I like the ice grip on crutches thing...well, anyway, those are the easiest to turn from out door use to indoor use...just flip up the grip when inside.

Are you an experience crutch user or temporary? I found when I tried them (as a very temporary crutch user) that I kept catching on the ground. This was possibly tied to my inexperience and relative discomfort on crutches while non-weight bearing.

@@EquipMeOT I've been a left lower leg amputee for 2 years. I usually use a walker but crutches are a nice change once in a while. I want to thank you again for the idea of using a wooden slide board from my wheelchair to the driver's seat of my 4runner. It was virtually impossible to just pull myself up from the wheelchair to truck seat.

Excellent ! I have the cane attachment and it has really helped me here in Buffalo as I walk many times thru snow and ice. Thank you !

Good to know! I was nervous recommending them for crutches because I'm far from a confident crutch user and found them a tripping hazard due to my general discomfort with the crutches. I am glad to know for a more experienced crutch user, they are a viable safety solution!

LOVE your videos and account. You have helped me and mom tremendously. I absolutely use my microspikes when out walking in the winter. Only downer is you have to take them off before walking inside and as you said they’re a beast to remove/put on but they really provide stability and ease in packed snow/ice.

I agree, the on and off dance is a bit of a pain! The rotating cleats are a nice alternative!

Excellent information for my future needs. However the link for the "Pearl Izumi Lobster Gloves" is incorrect. It takes you to the "Rotating Ice Ckeats". Please correct as I am quite interested in seeing the gloves since you didn't talk about them In the video. TIA

I don't like them on crutches because they add a potential tripping hazard because they catch during the swing through. I prefer a really aggressive crutch tip like this one: amzn.to/3U9tRso

How did you keep the coils from attacking carpets at the door? There's never a safe way to take off shoes .
