Ойын-сауық
Every week, there are hundreds of new comics to buy, and a bunch of temptation to just grab what everyone else is grabbing. I'm guilty too, for sure. Here are a few tips I'm using to avoid FOMO in 2023.

That unplugging part is underrated, but SUPER important.
Great video man. I love this! Anyone else start watching this to find out what FOMO was? Lol
"...with honors." Such a good video. I literally 10 minutes before I watched this video signed up for Marvel Unlimited.
Hoopla is another great digital alternative. All you need is a library card from your local library to log in and they have lots of collected editions, and lots of them are same day releases as the physical editions! Only drawback is you only get a certain number of checkout downloads per month.
Great advice to unplug. I used to be subscribed to so many comic channels. Now it’s just Comics are Dope, Near Mint, and THC.
Budgeting is why I get to enjoy this hobby 👏 Very very good tip for this hobby. I know for me when I started on a budget it helped me to focus what I buy to my priority. 👏📚
Great advice! I tend to get obsessive with my collection, and it's always important and needed for me to step back and take a deep breath. Budgeting has been hard, but so worth it for me.
This is an incredible video!! Thank you so much for pouring your heart into these videos and sharing great tips for new and ongoing comics readers/collectors alike! These are all things I wish I knew when I first started, and your tips have really helped hone my thinking around what is important to me to collect, buy, share, etc. Thank you for being that voice of reason when I want to just make worse decisions (like buying things without reading them, yikes that sounds familiar!) XD
Yes! Marvel and DC Unlimited are the best for exploring runs and figuring out what clicks with you. Like you and Batman, I get all the X-books and then just stick to the runs that click with me for other characters. And some characters just aren’t my cup of tea, so I can rule out those books, too, lol.
and Bj we're on the same page. When people walk to my room they can tell I'm Batman / Catwoman fan not a library. I buy HCs, TPs, OHCs, Omnis that I know I WILL LOVE and read again and again. When it comes to single issues I buy variant covers of characters I love. I pull series of my most faves. But I have limit on 3 pulled issues max. I'm being careful with it, I don't need huge library but I do want my favorites to be with me.
As a new comic reader I appreciate this video a lot. Thank you broheme!
This is a great video. But I've fallen down that hole sometimes. But I do my best to not get caught up too much into FOMO. 😅 but having to be home all the time, nothing else to do, just read comics and play my switch.
Really good tips. Trying to get my saving up to get mu budget, and not just buy whenever at random.
Great advice! I love the idea of focusing on the specific things you love and sticking to a budget
Great tip. Budgeting is so hard tho
All facts right here. I need to follow this advice from now on.
I agree with you .. thanks for the reminder video …
Stamp of approval!
How's it going B.J....I've recently subscribed to your KZread channel and have truly been digging your videos both past and present! This video especially has taught me a lot about F.O.M.O. I hope that you continue to put out awesome videos bro and I'll definitely stay tuned in! 😃
This is a great video. It's so easy to lose grip on why we're buying books in the first place.
Good stuff. You and I have the same take on collecting comics. Keep it up.
My budget is $20 a week so $100 a month.
I appreciate the honest. This is great info. I can’t count how many times I fed into the FOMO on books that I honestly did not care for. This video is a great reminder of why we collect comics and how to keep it stress free. Well done and Thank You!
Great video great point’s you definitely develop your palette becoming a reader it has definitely changed the direction of my collection.
This really applies to me since I live in the philippines and if I dont get it getting it on a us site with the shipping fee you cannot justify buying it

lol! I bought my collection in the US then shipped it to the Philippines in boxes. Just had about 300 TPBs, OHC, HC, and Omnibuses I collected for about 20 years but the covid pandemic messed me up. I got pulled in watching the youtube channels on collected edition collections and I got addicted in buying. In just 3 years my collection jumped to about 2,000 books. I'm trying to quit cold turkey and it helps that I'm back in the Philippines but still, I ordered several times from IST and had it shipped to my Houston address. It is hard to quit.
Good video. I find myself buying books that are recommended to me through content creators and I didn't even like them. It's good to try stuff out, but sticking to my budget and buying series that I personally love is great too.
Love the video man. This is a good reminder for me to collect what I love and watch out for FOMO traps.
Great video
Incredible video, really appreciate this man thanks
Great advice...also figure out if you're a collector, investor, or flipper. Maybe a combination of the three and stick to it within a budget. For example I'm a collector/investor and will probably never flip books or just wait for TPB.

exactly. nothing wrong with being a flipper, but you definitely have to move differently if you are.
Amazing tips. Thank you for doing these Comics 101 videos.
Just an awesome video! I'm 53 and getting back into collecting after some absence so I found your video's very helpful. Plus looks like your a Mets fan what can be better lol ! looking forward to seeing more of your videos thank you.

Thanks for watching! I’m actually not a huge baseball fan. But my grandfather was a die hard Mets fan so I support them in his memory.
PREACHHHHHHH ! Amazing video bro ! This is a sock in the gut truth for us collectors haha !
Really good tips here Kicks, avoiding FOMO is a huge fight in this hobby. Now can you make a follow up video about avoiding FOMO for original comic art collecting where each item is 1/1 and art drops are typically only ever given 24 hours advance notice?

my best advice is to just have a separate savings account for OG art. Call it an Art-Mergency Fund. -Kicks Ramsey lol
This happened to me with Scott Snyder's Batman run everybody said "Get it you'll love it it's best Batman run!" And when I read it? For me it was all just a meh and Snyder isn't my fave writer at all. I don't even like the JL Deluxe Editions by him, it's bunch of mess to me.
Any help on variant covers? Do I just walk in and a shop has them all? Or only online
Just don't buy it nor get to excited about movies etc 😂😂😂😂 lmao I was going buy so many facsimiles or reprints 😅IMO just wait it out if you want something had to buy a cat variant of Bloodline just bc it was sold out of every LCS but one 😢😊
Buy AND sell. Stay away from MCU and Gunn spec. Omni reprints happen.
Channel looking good, I see the member list increasing. Keep up the great work 👍🏿

@@comicsaredope my local comics store has a section of used trades that I go to first to find what I might be interested, most are less than $20 (some are $5.99 .) I try to set aside $20 a week (a little bit more if I have extra money) on comics. I've found that my local thrift stores have older and sometimes newer stuff too comics wise. Thrifting at your local Goodwill or savers (if you have one in your area) helps save money too. I've found a lot of good comics at my thrift stores. I haven't done Comixology but my brothers have a subscription to it and along with the physical books, they'll read older stuff. Your tips do help me, as a collector. I like the physical books myself, that I can hold in my hands and read. Have a good day and thanks for sharing. Hopefully my tips will help you.
