I'd say 99% fail because they don't realize they aren't creating something that is untouchable. It's so easy to find a product and launch ads. The product could be completely unsaturated, the second you launch ads you will have 100 copy cats. That's why many can make sales, but majority can't keep them. If you do the bare minimum, with no effort, others can to.

Some people test 10-20 products before finding their first winner. It’s all about learning from your mistakes and do better next time. All it takes is one winner for everything to be worth it. You never know until you actually test products if they will work or not. Also, never follow your emotions, look at the data and research.

Hi, as someone who has been dropshipping for a while its better to think about not the length but the angles you have tested. usually i go with 5 unique marketing angles tested and each one should have 3 different ad creatives at least. total you should not be spending 100-150 on testing a product without seeing buying intent/sale. if you are getting good metrics on the ads you know they are good. only issue then would be website offers (price), and social proof on the website. So if you are getting sufficient visitors on the site but no sales/few add to carts then it is usually whether it is actually a useful, problem solving product, and is it in the range where customers can impulse buy it. if that is sorted the last thing would be the offer and social proof/benefits u have to tweak. i recommend apps like ab convert to split test if you have enought budget
