Oh man, I like this a lot. I've been tying a figure 8 in the level line and then girth hitching the backing up against it and holding it all together with a dab of super glue, but this is simpler. I'm going to switch to this for future lines. Also, I appreciated your recent 3RT Confluence review. Does it work equally well with weighted flies, or does it struggle a bit there? Thanks for the videos and the blog.

Thanks! It depends on what your concept of "weighted" is. If you're fishing a small fly with a bead or some lead wire underwrap, it's fine. But it's not going to throw a #4 cone-head wooly bugger well (which tenkara rod does?). But you probably knew that already.

Looking for your ultralight fly fishing pack? Is it still available to purchase?

Crap just figured out not to use braided line? Leader pull through, put a drop of super glue hope it holds oops

Just purchased my first Tenkara rod. Can I attach this Dacron to a Tenkara USA level line like the furled lines? No videos show this to be something people do.

So I know this is a really old video, but I'm just starting to get into tenkara and come from a saltwater background. In saltwater, we work with hollowcore braids a lot, either spectra or dacron, and create splices that way. Do you know if anyone has used hollow dacron to splice a loop onto the lillian via whipped finger trap type connection? Then you can loop to loop any line you want very easily. No knots needed and clean transitions.

That would make a nice transition, but pulling your whole line through the loop seems like a PITA. With this method, on and off is as quick as is possible, which is a huge advantage where it is a fixed length and you have to trade out lines if you want to change it up

Doesn’t work for 3.5 flatline. 😢
